Sorry there way too many bmw owners I know and too many I have owned... Which model you need to know about?

 

Only the smg versions need the actuator, pump or clutch replaced every 3-5 years. When you get to m series than you talk.

Only a few ignorant candles sticker readers who fail to get the fundamentals correct would deem not everything can be removed besides the chassis and engine block. Always get the facts right first.

 

You got the most absurd idea here and everybody is ignoring you. Dun dare just shut the fark up. Candle simi sai grow up lah. I from BMW club and you just drive wad paper cars that can dismantle. Please do yourself a favor and go count some candles.

Sorry that's waste of my time Google is your Friend check the whether all the bmw delivered all around the world develop a spoilt gearbox in 5 years. Unless it's some idiots trying to rev their under powered 4 or base model 6 cylinder engine.

even when the gear is already automatically shifted and in place, most would step on the accelerator to get the car to move, either forward or in reverse. I've heard from more than a few mechanics,  good to wait for a second, or two, before stepping on the accelerator.

 

This not only allows the gear to be in place, it also allows all parts connected to the gear mechanism to be ready.

 

ok. The obvious will tell us that not to depress accelerator when shifting the auto gear stick. But wait for the few seconds after the stick is in place is quite absurd as I understand the gear engaged within less than a second....

 

Is your Volvo purchase used?

There is no wait need. Usually it's because the valve body is faulty. So there is jerk or time delay. They won't change that part but try to clean it due to the cost of course it won't work well.

Wah u driving M? Mm-hmmm ...... Gave up my M3 for a Busso .... No regrets man haha

I had the e30 m3 that was converted by birds to rhd... Wasn't actually legal in sg... And my m5.

 

I like the Alfa busso. Personally that's one of the best sounding engine in saloon car. Just renew the Coe when time is up they won't make another one like that.

 

My daily car is 760 now. The fuel pump cost more than the gearbox that's the big downside

ok not exactly a second or two, but a short while.

One of those things I wld rather not test the boundary as I am not familiar.

End of the day I have to bear any cost of repairs and I need the car alot and try to minimise time at the work shop so over time I've made that a habit and gotten used to that.

Had several cars over the years, some for more than 5 years and none had gear box problem, as in none had gear box damage.

Bought it new.

friend of mine is driving an M6, he cant stop that smile on his face.

 

The M cars are always a pleasure to drive ... Thinking of the M4 manual once cat b drops further :0)

Just scrapped the car and have learnt a few pointers from the experience.

 

- chanced upon motorist.sg to placed an advert for owners who want to scrap their cars. The website gets quotes from dealers who may be interested

 

- depending on condition, you'll get offers of at least a little more than what you'll get from scrapping. You'll need to get an accurate scrap value  from one motoring in order to make your decision

 

- these are people who would offer you more, when you've already to scrap your car, fix it and re-sell them

 

- if you should decide to sell instead, do up a simple S&P agreement with terms, and it should be indicated specifically that the car is sold at its current condition and buyers are aware of those condition, something along this line. 

- if you're near the end of a year of registration, scrap it quickly as the amount you'll get back is reduced by something like 5% when it crosses to the next year

 

- even when you've arranged to be towed to a authorized scrapped yard, tow truck operators have arrangements with dealers who go for owners who are already decided on scrapping, and will make you an offer

 

- at the scrap yard you'll normally get token sum, i mean really a token sum.

My car reaching 10yrs in 16 March. Can't get any dealer to take in my car. Lol

One even told me want to minus some amount from my paper value.

Any scrapyard I can just drive in and ask? Anyone have any good one to recommend?

I'm afraid the only scrap yard I've had any dealing with is the LTA authorized .

 

You can call all the LTA authorized ones to enquirer, see if anyone wild offer you a better price .

 

if any takers, selling bits and parts wld certainly get you some $. Just be sure you do not sell the parts required to be there,in order to scrap .

 

Just been informed my rear view mirror cost close to $1K when new.
