FlyinMozart Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Hi wondering what the sonic difference between those 2 types? I have a pair of good O made in japan BMB's speakers great for karaoke but when I tried on my hifi amp it sounds off. Saw "That CD shops" using multiple BMB's speakers for their shop's stereo which sounds good. And also came across this link: http://www.karaoke-store.com/bmbcsprkavos.html Any idea?

Actually I think that for a CD shop catering to the high end customers, That CD's setup sounded awful. I think BMB voiced their speakers to cater only to a certain range of frequencies, maybe enhance a bit here and there to make Karaoke sound good as well as to take a beating from overzealous singers, mike abuse, etc. But like you tried, they sounded awful with music. Regards CK
FlyinMozart Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Maybe they sounded good to me when I am outside their pacific plaza's That's CD shop and hearing them blasting their Jazz /bossanova from a distance. So could it be their stereo setup is for amplifying a long range to attract customers in?? Went in saw they are using Marantz CD player & amp as well as yamaha processors. We dun listen to our music from a far distance so hifi speakers will sound better?? ???
Guest ghemml Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Those BMB speakers are what industrial called, Professional Audio System. They have different requirements like higher power handling, larger acoustics projection, higher sound pressures.... etc... compare to home audio system In general home audio don't really require such power, or sometime over the top kind of requirements... in short overkill
FlyinMozart Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Hmm... ya like those Marantz professional series speaker used in IT show to shout lelong stuff kinda sounds like crap with music...
Guest ghemml Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Yes, that why there are different types of speaker, designed for different purpose and usage, like PA system, Guitar speakers, Concert Speaker... as some of them only cover a very specific range of freq
altis72 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Actually I think that for a CD shop catering to the high end customers, That CD's setup sounded awful. Agreed. I like the high-end speakers used by Grammaphone eg Sonus Faber, Onix etc
josephjoe Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Well karaoke speakers are built to blast. Built to withstand microphone feedback. We tend to emphasize on the lows n mids. As this makes ur voice sounds better. Comparatively hifi speakers are more delicate . More balanced to give you the actual sound of the instrument. Well if you want to have a disco cum Ktv session . Try not to use ur Hifi system.
