weibchen Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/fidelia/ Anyone can try it and feedback please!
ootg Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Cool! Interesting that they have decided to sell their iPhone remote app for $12.99.
ootg Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 They have just released version 1.0.2. Audiofile Engineering has been very quick to correct things and upgrade versions, with 2 upgrades in 10 days. They have been quick to respond to bug notices, but are very secretive about how they handle the music data, and whether they use RAM to hold the music for replay. Sound-wise, Fidelia is an obvious improvement on iTunes. Interested to hear how it stacks against players like Pure Music and Amarra. They have also finally released their new two-tier pricing strategy for Fidelia. The basic player is at US$19.99, and the advanced player is another US$49.99 on top of that. What does the advanced mean? It adds hog-mode, as well as iZotope resampling options. Need to try these out. It's certainly cheaper than Pure Music or Amarra.
David Cheah Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 So I read that it's only for Mac users only right? Sorry bro not so well verse with IT stuffs ;D
ootg Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I told Audiofile Engineering that the Fidelia display was chopping off the tops of Chinese characters in titles. The quickly produced a fix in a few days, and everything works good in v.1.0.2. With the current pricing and on listening tests, I seriously think that Pure Music and Amarra have serious competition.
DizzyD1624705734 Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I just gotten my macmini up and running with my DAC and only am using iTunes to playback the music. I am still cleaning up what I have imported into the macmini but will evaluate what other music softwares to be added soon. For this Fidelia, can I use the existing remote app or I need another app? Does Amarra and Puremusic require me to use their iphone app as well. Cheers
ootg Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Fidelia has a proprietary app for iPhone/iPod Touch that costs US$12.99 on the iTunes store (search for Fidelia). I guess you will only want to buy it after you decide that Fidelia is the player you want. Pure Music can use the Apple Remote app, while Amarra uses Rowmote (which again, can be bought from the iTunes store).
bigtree Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Amarra can be control via the Rowmote. For my Amarra mini, I'm using the Apple Remote app /via ipad or the physical apple Remote after starting the application. IMHO, Rowmote is not very friendly to use on amarra mini.
ootg Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I think that WiFi actually interferes with the SQ, so I actually try to switch off my WiFi when playing music (not sure about Ethernet though). Most of the players have the function to organize a playlist, so best to load a playlist and just sit back and listen.

Bro, you made any comparison with Amarra or Pure Music directly?? I like the GUI but not sure how it sound. I guess I can download the trial to give it a try...
ootg Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Go try the trial and decide for yourself, it is certainly a well thought-out kit. The player can access your iTunes library, or build its own.
hotbird Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Here's fresh from the oven Fidelia VS Pure Music My vote for Pure Music too...they going to launch updates for integer playback soon (currently only offered by Audionirvana).
Doggie Howser Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I don't get integer volume control. Why does it need to be supported by DAC if that's done in software? They also mentioned an Enterprise edition. Will that cost even more?
snip3r Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I kinda like audirvana as compared to amarro. Amarro is very slow in my system. Esp the buffer playback, audirvana is on the fly. SQ I would say more or less the same Here's fresh from the oven Fidelia VS Pure Music My vote for Pure Music too...they going to launch updates for integer playback soon (currently only offered by Audionirvana).

Mercman replied in Pure Music and Integer Playback from yours truly's queries that it will be free. :) Please read Integer Playback in OSX to find out what it is all about, quite technical, had to read a few times before I understood what it meant ;D

snip3r Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Eh, how did you compare a software to a Japanese amp? ;) Slow as in loading. The software is slow, especially during buffering the music to memory.
