imbest Posted October 14, 2007 Author Posted October 14, 2007 After some measurement over for the past few days.....there are indeed power savings when it's in standby mode. When it's in full mode, including recording programme, the power consumption is around 30W+. When you put it in standby mode, it will take a while for the HDD to go to "sleep" mode and the power consumption will go down to 20W-21W. If u plug out the HDD, it would probably save you about 3W-5W :D What's next? extracting the recorded files yeah!!!!!

Guest Shadowkiller Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 So....any progress on being able to read the files in the HDD? It will be great to be able to transfer the recorded stuff out. Saves space ;)
zenkinz Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 thanks for all the hardwork. like some, I would be most keen for any hack that allows me to get the media files out of the HDD. :P
karlie Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Plus those drive possibly don't have parity check (not IDE)
jeremiah1624705989 Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Was there a final conclusion whether one can transfer the files out of the TV box without destroying it? Thanks!
aplcom Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi, I'm also keen to know what was the final result from <imbest>, were you able to determine the type of filesystem and access the hdd and were you able to copy off the files? BTW, thanks for all the work you put into this previously and letting us know your progress!!
aplcom Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi, Did a bit more digging and found the main procssor to be the STx5100KUC - see below: Also seems to use an imbedded O/S located on memory chip 46v32m16 (512Mb). The disk seems to be partially encrypted and looks like UDF formatted (accessable by early linux releases I think...). Is anyone else looking into this or inbterested in this topic? (Mainly to see if possible to extract files fron the hdd). Rgds.
