Corona11 Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 I saw a HT version of the Benq at SLS Osacar City, it had the prefix HT, so I assume that it is for home theatre use. This Benq looks interesting Joamonte, will definitely keep an eye on this one. Wonder about the color wheel speed though. :)
Guest jonlee Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 6 segment, 5 speed. me praying hard that it has a throw ratio of more than 2.1...... Quote . Wonder about the color wheel speed though. :)
Guest duckling Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Wah...got 5 BNC connectors? Am I SuaKu or what!! ;D
Jag Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Woah,........ BNC for RGB, thats great. Benq's products tend to be cost-effective, and I'll be interested to see the pricing for this. I'd be surprised if this pj is meant for presentation, otherwise the HD-2 chip is misused. HD-2 chips are produced by TI specifically for HT applications. Seems like MSRP (in pjcentral.com) sets it to be US$9995.
vc Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 What does this mean? Max Resolution 640 x 350 (native) / 1024 x 768 (compressed)
Jagdpanzer Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 BENQ is the OEM for famous Runco hi-end HT projector. See the similarity at http://www.runco.com/Products/DLP/cl700.htm The casing of HD1 looks exactly like HD2 except the colour and was on display at Challenger last March. I was offered the display set by BENQ for slightly more than 5k. It was badly set up at Challenger and I had a headache (color wheel spin?)watching the demo. The set was built like a tank and was heavy.

Jagdpanzer Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Read it in an aussie HT webpage last year. In fact, the HD1 won an award in CEDIA (aussie's CES) last year. BENQ advertised quite a lot in Computer Times here last year but eventually pulled out the HD1 for reasons unknown. Look at the entire panel controls, casing etc. It is the same as Runco. I almost ordered the unit as I was given demo price directly by BENQ. The only demo set by Challenger pj room was a disappointment. The absolutely "blank" sales girl connected it to dvd player using a composite video cable and did not even bother to close the window blind.

I spoke to my seller about this PJ last night and frankly, he told be to stay away from MIT PJs. BenQ and some other computer mfrs like HP, Dell, Compaq, et al, are not real PJ mfrs and themselves outsource their PJ mfring to others, so I am rather surprised that BenQ is the OEM mfr for such a high end company like Runco, as they are basically a computer marketing co. When asked about getting an MIT PJ and without saying too much here, his strongest words to me was that MIT PJs are black-listed in Govt tenders. nuff said. I would be willing to hear more if there is more information.
