Hi guys, am thinking of getting a home theatre system from sony, and might be getting this one (second hand). Just wondering if it can play "friendly" discs (cos i know some players only recognise original discs). And its speakers are 40W x 5, and a 80W subwoofer, is that sufficient for home theatre, as well as for some music listening? Would really appreciate some feedback.

Welcome 2 our HT forum.

Not familar /w Sony all-in-one but some of their DVD players got problem playing Regional Code Enhanced DVDs too.

As wat u r interested is a all-in-one. Maybe u should lower ya expectation. One thing 4 sure.. I bet it can't play loud.. if u intend 2 install ya HT in a large room or hall.. maybe u would like 2 reconsider.

As 4 DVD player.. Pioneer made so good all rounders.. virtually play all types of disc fed into it.

Hmmm.....I was at my friend's house the other day testing the set, and the sound wasn't like shaking the room. It seems my hifi (2000W pmpo) is more powerful, just that there's no surround , cos only 2 speakers. Anyway, i think the bottomline is that HTIBs are usually not as good as they look i think.
