Rokkz Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hi Guys Still awaiting for delivery of a 9 series 55" and plan to wall mount the unit. I am in the process of ordering HDMI cables and would like to know what height are LCD's normally mounted and typical cable length required. The cabinet I plan to buy is a very low profile 2m wide. After taking a tape measure to the wall it appears the maximum cable length used in the wall would be 100cm max, calculating from the low half of where the LCD would be mounted to 15cm from the bottom of the wall , and another 100mm from the wall to the amp. Is one 2m HDMI cable used for this purpose, or is it better to just get a 3m length? Is there an increased chance of the signal quality being reduced using a 3m over a 2m HDMI? Will be using ezyhd cables Cheers
JenX3 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 (edited) fox's cables will give you the same signal over either length - buy long just in case but the extra length may look untidy (I have such a mass of cabling behind my gear... not pretty) HDMI seems to be good for up to 10m on a quality cable. As for height, I think its just preference - some people like middle of screen at eye height, others like a bit lower. I have mine a bit higher (bottom of screen at eye height and angled down a bit to compensate - feels comfortable to me and reduces reflections) jen Edited February 1, 2009 by jenx

Any lower than that and you can't watch it standing up (which my wife likes to do from the kitchen). I used 2m HDMI cables and though they are OK when evrything is plugged in and in its final position but they are too short when you start pulling things out. Go for 3 metre, you won't regret it. In the meantime I am gonna have to buy some connectors and 1m cables.....
AndrewW Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Get the longer cables. In my setup, I have a 10m cable running through the wall up to the projector, a 1m cable from the avr to the wall plate, and a 1m cable from each component to the avr. And I don't have any problems with signal loss etc.
