What if all threads not posted in i nover a year become archived. They are still there for viewing and if new infor comes to hand a new thread can be made. As far as searches are concerned, set "include archived threads" to "off" as default. I would think this would lessen the load somewhat.

Lets face it, most threads that old (not posted in) are probably now irrelevant ie superceded models of products etc.

I don't post much, but as a lurker feel the effects when the forum goes down or runs slow.

BTW you do a fantastic job Caniffe. I saw the way some of the so called senior members behaved at whirlpool and it really must have hurt given the brilliant work you do here to see them disrespect you and the forum so much. :(

what id someone bought an item 3 years ago, someone else had also bought the item, had a problem with it and posted about it and got help, and then more than 12 months later the person who has had it for 3 years has the same problem occur, how are they going to find out how to get around it or how to fix or what to do about it?

Its alright Afro..most of that WOP ( Whirlpool Off Topic ) stuff got hidden up some Dead Parrots backside anyway.

Ironically the rudest and most hurtful and damaging stuff remained visible for all to see

well, knowing that they are looking for a problem with a 3 year old product, they could start by searching the "archived" forums ...

edit: or they could just do what they do now and post a new thread ... I mean seriously how often do we see the same questions over and over, even when the answer is in a thread on the first page ? do you really expect someone to search back 3 years for an answer ?

In that rare instance, as another posted has said, search the archived topics. But that would probably be very rare. In the meantime the improvement to forum speed and stability should benefit everybody.

Just an idea to help.
