Spadman Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) Hi All, This multi-region remote code also works on the new Samsung BDP-1500. Cheers! Edited September 6, 2008 by Spadman
JaysonLJ Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I think this has gone off topic. I think the actual ask was for region free blu-ray.
David Williams Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I think this has gone off topic. I think the actual ask was for region free blu-ray. Actually I think your comprehension skills are not up to scratch. This is the FIRST post on this thread.. Hi All,Not sure if you're aware of it but I have a remote hack for SD DVD Region free on this deck. I'm unsure about Blu though as I don't have any Region A discs to verify. If any of you guys do let us know. This hack also works nicely with RCE disks. • Eject Disc – Display No Disc • Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds • Press 768849 • Turn Off Machine Enjoy. Yup. SD DVD Region free.
mattinsyd Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Hi there... after reading this entire thread I have not been able to get the hack t work for me I have the Samsung HT-BD2 S/W: 071107.01_XSA Region: B/04 (BD/DVD) I have tried to use the following hack with no success: • Eject Disc – Display No Disc on screen • Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds (On my remote this only worked using the second button from bottom right hand corner of remote) • Press 76884 + After entering those 5 digits, you should apparently see a number in the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region • Press 4 to 9 for "auto-region" mode ie. Region Free • Turn Off Machine First complication that I have is that my screen only displays no disc if I hit the Enter button on my remote control and even then it appears for one sec only in the top left section of the screen Second complication is that when I enter the 5 digits above I (as others in this thread) have encountered no numbers appearing in the top left section of the screen. I have noted that different firmware numbers have been mentioned by other posters and I am lil confused as to how I would update my firmware (if this is the source of my problem) I am technically a novice when it comes to this kind of stuff so any simple advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance
HyperMan Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Same procedure updated with my purchase date (April 08) and firmware(080116.01_XSA). This procedure did not work on my son's unit (same model) which he purchased in 2007 so I assume his firmware is earlier than mine. I cannot find any updates on Samsung web-site. Maybe unit needs to taken into Samsung Repair Centre for update? ******************************************************************************** I used the following procedure on my Samsung HT-BD2 and it will now play all DVD regions!! Before it would only play Region 4 DVD. This unit was purchased in Sydney with stock coming from Samsung in Oz in April 08 My unit firmware came as 080116.01_XSA & it has not been updated. I cannot find any updates on Samsung web-site. This is the procedure gleamed from contributors on this forum (MANY THANKS!!!) • Eject Disc – Display No Disc on screen • Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds (On my remote this only worked using the second button from bottom right hand corner of remote) • Press 76884 + After entering those 5 digits, you should apparently see a number in the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region • Press 4 to 9 for "auto-region" mode ie. Region Free • Turn Off Machine I'm still eagerly awaiting a patch to remove my Blu-Ray from Region B to all regions or at least to be able to play Region A & B Blu-ray discs
HokeyWhiteBoy Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Can I just add that the only way I got this to work with my HT-BD2 was to insert a non-region 4 disk (in this case a normal US DVD) then I waited for the machine to spit out the disk (which it auto does if it can't read it/does not like the region) then while the 'eject disk' image was still up I started to follow the instructions below and it worked perfectly. You SAVED me, as I already spent US$500 on US Blu_ray disks befoe I realised it would not play them! THANKS! Same procedure updated with my purchase date (April 08) and firmware(080116.01_XSA). linkubus Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Does the R4 unlock procedure for BDP1400 also work for the BDP1500 ??
suparockin Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Can't find an owners thread for this machine, just wondering if anyone else with this machine has had problems playing Wall E?

runey71 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I can't get this to work either I've tried many variations including both the ones mentioned here... Just wondering if someone who has been successful might be able to post a bit more info... Like timing of how fast to enter 76884... How long it takes for the region number to appear... Do you have to start entering 76884 whilst eject / no disc is shown on screen? How critical is the 3 second press of repeat? ie will 2 seconds work or 4 seconds? Sorry for ll the questions but I am starting to get very frustrated... Hope someone can help...
AMCNAD Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Hi Couldn't find the general BDP1400 page, but just to let owners know (as per AVS forum) new firmware is available that allows Ghostbusters to play.
John Oxlade Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I just upgraded to firmware v1.6 on my HT-BD2. Now Avatar plays just fine but my previous multi-region hack has been overwritten and none of what I have found on the web seems to work any more. Any (polite) suggestions? Thanks John

Same happed with the Momitsu player as discussed in teh Allure BRP thread.

Trouble is, for those of us who have emigrated to NZ from the UK, we have a legitimate excuse to want to be able to play loads of region 2 disks.
jalalski Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) I just upgraded to firmware v1.6 on my HT-BD2. Now Avatar plays just fine but my previous multi-region hack has been overwritten and none of what I have found on the web seems to work any more. Any (polite) suggestions? Thanks John Same here John, I have upgraded my firmware version to the very latest one I could find on the Samsung Australia website (I think they released a new one this month for it) and this region free hack is not working for me at all, even after trying the method inserting a US DVD disc and waiting for the player to eject it. The HT-BD2 is locked to Blu Ray region B and DVD Region 4 and it sucks, as I have many Region 1 DVD discs I'd like to watch again. EDIT: Just after making this post I Googled a solution that was made available for the HT-BD2T model and what do you know, it WORKED for mine as well and it's now region free yepeee (am over the moon). Here is the solution to make your HT-BD2 Region Free: 1) Power on the unit ( doesnt matter if using remote or power button on the set itself ) 2) Ensure there is No Disc in the player 3) Samsung Logo screen shows up 4) Press ENTER (on remote), then the number 84269, then Press ENTER (on remote) again. 5) You will see 'FREE' on the top left hand corner of the Samsung Screen. 6) That's it!!!! you have a dvd region free player! Mine has the latest firmware version S/W 100827.01_XSA, so this solution might only work with the latest firmware version available on your system. You can download the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burn it onto a CD-R and insert it into your BluRay for the upgrade to take place (just print the instructions from the Samsung website on how to upgrade the firmware) Have fun all and hooray to Region Free Edited September 26, 2010 by jalalski
