I don't know where you are,

but we have a place called Rick Hart in Perth, and they will definately price match it.

But perhaps it's a WA only company? Try price matching with a few different places, good guys? Somewhere is bound to match it.

$2500 isn't a bad price btw

We have WOW and Good Guys here that should do it, but they dont sell Hitachi.....Quite a few other places dont sell them either.

the $2500 price from JB does not include any extended warranty.... they want an additional $400 for that which turns a good price into a fairly average one.

I'd happily pay $2680 with the extra warranty..... where did you get yours from again?

I brought the Hitachi 50" 1280 x 1080 on 17/4/07 for $3,300 and at that time it was a good price at USL. Obviously, you get a better price today. Subsequently, I was so happy, I brought the 42" for $2,200 for my bedroom. As the resolution is so good, no worries about viewing distance.

If configured correctly, the colour and resolution is breath taking. Forget the Sony.

FYI i stands for interlace and p stands for progressive. Obviously p is better than i. You can search on Google to look at the technical aspect.

Between the i and p you are unable to see the difference unless you place them side by side. The difference is insignificant.

Hitachi has now released a 50" 1902 x 1080p FULL HD (made in Japan). Go for this one. Please note that all Plasma & LCD below 50" are now made in China. Aviod this at all course!

Cheers.

Ok... i know you guys will be dissapointed, but i went with the Sony...... I had not intention of this, but I went to DFO on the weekend, and they have a Sony shop there...which sell factory seconds and items with damaged cartons etc...

I got a 46" W series..... It had a dud pixel... which after much inspection, I decided that it was only visible it i was close up, and the screen was black... (the pixel remains blue).

Anyway, long story short, I ended up getting It, and its being delivered tomorrow.... Ended up costing $2500 + 5yrs warranty for $279.

I think thats a good price....

If I notice a second pixel die, then i can get it repaired/preplaced.

Smart move SimonJT, I heard this morning that Hitachi is pulling the plug on their AV business in Australia (March this year I believe), its all too hard / not profitable - I guess the 1080i/p thing hurt them... So if you have any issues with your Hitachi product from March onwards it wont be as easy to get it serviced I would have thought..
