With the Aussie dollar doing so well against the US dollar I reckon now would be a great time to try and get a HD1000u from the US.

I have no doubt you would be able to get it shipped for under $1300. The only trouble is finding somebody willing to ship one over here.

I also wouldn't count on the HC1100 being cheaper in a months time. It has been massively popular, it has apparently sold out, and there is no need to drop the price at the moment.

Quite a few will happily ship it, however, they will not accept credit card payments at all.. And I wont buy internationally with out using a credit card as that gives me various payment protections.

Also, by buying from japan, they will assist you with the warranty. What will the US merchants do? No idea...

Couldnt you organise warranty thru your "mate" even if you bought it overseas?

Got another route now, I can buy more directly from the Australian wholesaler, whom also sells the HC1100's. Even cheaper than going through my mate, but I need to get the OK from my work before I'd order it. Plus its a matter of now actually seeing a HC1100 in action.

And no I cant reveal the price as its applicable to the company I work, sorry peeps.

Hi All,

I bought a hd1000u from bh Photo and video a couple of weeks back for $1350 odd delivered, it is absolutely brilliant! Have been running a HTPC into it as well as a HD set top box, and 720p and 1080p material just looks jaw dropping amazing. The order took about one week to get to me from purchase, actual shipping time was a couple of days. If anyone has any queries, feel free to post them and I will check in later, but for the price compared to what you can buy locally for the same dollars, it was an easy decision to risk the no warranty situation, in my opinion.

1080p ?? I didnt think they could handle a 1080p signal.

I concur - 1080p is not in the specs of this unit.

Still that been said the 2 or so year old Hitach HTJX100 projector will support a 1080p signal, its actually an undocumented feature, so the HD1000u might to......you never know

Running through HTPC, 1920 by 1080 files show no problem, scaling done by the HTPC, to native resolution of the projector 1280 by 720, apologies, did not mean to confuse, I have not run the HTPC at 1080p to the projector

I'd test it out but the only device I have that is capable of 1080p is my htpc which has developed a major issue with the video card and I've swapped back in the old mx440 vga only card. If nobody else tries it out I'll have a go tomorrow night.

Mind you I dont really see the point anyway besides for interest sake only.

Pricejapan seem to have the HC1100 again but the price is up to AU$1451. Now that is just crazy as the 3100 will probably only be a few hundred dollars more. Looks like getting an HD1000 from the US is going to be the go! Now all I need is a reference to a reliable seller in US that accepts CC payment??

Someone else on here bought one from here:

As a side note they have the IN72 for USD$448!

The last time I saw a HC3100 on PJ it was at $1850 so that $1450 is not so crazy.

The power supply on all Mitsu projectors supports 110/240v so there are no issues importing any of their projectors from anywhere.

Although the hD1000u is US only so it may be different, but I seem to recall it being the same.

Hey Preach - just be a little careful with the pricing on the IN72 there mate.

It's US $648 with a $200 rebate, the rebate however is only open to US and Canadian residents so we wouldn't actually get it for $448 US. Shame though...

That is pretty impressive value for money with the current exchange rate.

How do they go for warranty issues? Do they handle having it shipped back?

Bhphotovideo.com - also have the Sanyo PLV-Z4 for $999, Hitachi PJTX100 for $699, Optomo HD70 for $999, Sony VPL-HS60 for $1329

Lol, the HC1100 has only "one unit available."

Any it was bought by me

I was after a HC3100. But PJ said that Mits arent making them at the moment. They arent expecting stock until July, if at all.

Ive just run up the HC1100 and its working well.

Hell yeah! That is a great price for it. By far the cheapest I've ever seen.

i found 6 shops with it under $1700 !!!

i might go for the 3100 if i can find a good deal on it instead

It's all relative, but the next best price I have seen on one was $100 more.

good luck finding a cheap hc3100, there doesnt seem to be many around.
