Starshine Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Has anybody else bought this model? I'm very new to digital and I bought this as my first set top box from Woolies here in Sydney some months back for $129. I was under the impression that all STB have subtitles for TV channels (which was one of the reasons for buying a STB) but all I can find on this model is teletext and subtitles seem to be only available for DVDs. I have been reading the posts but can only see comments for the Kross STB not this combo model. Would appreciate any comments / information to increase my knowledge. Otherwise I am happy with the reception quality of the digital channels, 'cept when I get 'no signal'. I am in a block of units so we may need our antenna checked out. Signal strength is between 35% and 41% and quality is 85%. Only have a 14" Samsung CB-3351x TV with RF & AV in (1 audio, 1 video) good picture though for digital, analog is not as good but is viewable. I will eventually update my TV and may get a PVR as my Panasonic VCR seems to have forgotten how to receive TV channels so is only used now to play VHS tapes. One thing at a time tho... as not too financial at present. (you wouldn't believe it but my digital camera has also commited suicide-it's not my year) thanks all.
mtv Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 If you can get teletext on the STB, just enter page 801, that should give you subtitles (on programs where they are available)

Starshine Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 If you can get teletext on the STB, just enter page 801, that should give you subtitles (on programs where they are available) Thanks mtv, I'm trying now. Help ! I get the AUSTEXT main index screen and I can see captions....801 in the index list but how do I navigate to it?? . I tried pressing 801 on the number keys but all that happens is that 100 changes to 801 in the black border above the white title box that says 'AUSTEXT main index' The yellow highlight moves down the index list all by itself showing the information available. I pressed 'exit' and then teletext button a few times and now on network ten news I get a black bar near top of screen with 801 in red at left and NETWORK TEN in green in middle, but nothing else. Does this mean there are no captions available? How do I find out which programs have captions available if this is the case? I thought it would be much simpler than this... silly me This thread may help ya:http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=26785 Thanks Bootsman
