Lyle,

Ive just read that post, and 'etiquette' implies feeding trolls is not technically against the forum rules if done so in a nice manner :P

Consider the following scenarios:

#1

(gets out bag of old cold troll-lumps) - Ive got my troll-chaff bag ready [crumbles lump on the floor] here trolley... trolley trolley trolleeey.. come on here boy.. here boy, attah boy, who's a good boy then..

#2

Or maybe sneaking some lumps under the table while no ones watching..

You need to keep the troll alive long enough for it to be banned - no ones going to ban a baby-troll, a little cute fluffball with those big eyes looking up at you.. begging you to feed it.... once fed up and it matures into a stinking filthy raggard bad tempered grouchie full blown(pixel)-troll then it needs getting rid of like that puppy you get for christmas as a kid - that becomes a stinky old mutt - get rid of it, and get a new puppy..

Cheers,

Bitey

Maybe although I think "Don't feed trolls" is pretty succint. If you don't feed them they starve.

21. Do not feed trolls. Do no encourage trolls. Report trolls to the moderators.

If this bit of etiquette was followed to the letter, trolls would not last long!

Edit: Also we do have a few nice trolls. :P:P

But who determines who is the good, or the bad, or maybe 50 - 50% bad troll / good troll? :P

Should it be a collective decision?

A troll-poll, perhaps? :D

I agree. Bad form on my part. Just trying to be humorous.

I can here Coral saying "Oh noooo, not another poll"! :P

I suggest a new subforum created - Troll Identification.

Members can plead their case in identifying a troll (of course with a minimum amount of posts/quotes as proof) along with a poll. One poll with proof per suspect troll.

The suspect troll is immedatly identified as with theyr telly(ies) being replaced by a small troll icon (in grey) and placed into a Suspect-Troll group.

If more members vote them a Troll, than Non-Troll then they are moved into a group of "Confirmed-Trolls" and their avatar replaced with that of a Troll. A single Purple Troll icon also installed. The Troll is then banned.

If more members vote them a Non-Troll then they are allowed to remain on the forum until such time as more members vote them being a troll (see above).

Of course members would need to be allowed to change their vote as new evidence becomes aparent. Alternatively the poll is held back until such time as sufficient evidence is available to proove, or disproove the case in question.

Alternatively, a limited number of members could be placed into a Troll-Hunters group - and only those are allowed to post in said forum (see above)....

I think we need a poll on whether such a sub-forum of troll-polls should be created :-)

Cheers,

Bitey

Troll-Hunters .... isn't that where they make Saab's?!

Ease up Lyle! :P - I think we are all at least trying to be humorous :P

I rather liked Mr Bitey's Mello like flight of fancy, adding to Troll poll the new designation of Troll Hunter,This could become a whole new string dedicated to Troll nomenclature invention.

How about Bitey's Troll hunter - and I'll raise you a Troll Moll and a DigiTroll

I forgot the  . Will go back and put it in. :P
