savit Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I've recently got 4 Ohm Jamo speakers. One of my amps is old int/amp Rotel RA-820 ( 8 Ohm and more). Would be it safe to use 4 Ohm Jamos with this Rotel model? Thanks.
A9X Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 The manual from Hifiengine is conflicting. It says 8-16R, yet gives a DIN spec power rating for 4R. I'd guess it'll be OK: the later B will be fine. http://www.hifiengine.com/manuals/rotel/ra-820.shtml

savit Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Thanks guys for quick replies. Rotel's manual says 8-16 Ohms for speakers and 4-16 Ohms (from memory) for headphones. The amp is old and produces pops when switching it on/off . The other thing is that it is possible to change the volume without "hiss noise" only after 3-5 min. However the amp is not even warm with 8 Ohm speakers and I like the sound. I hope above mentioned age problems and 4 Ohms speakers will not make him retired faster. I will try the speakers tonight. Thanks,
