Calendar Feature

Featured Replies

I've had half an inclination to start using the calendar for DTV-related shows and the like. Naturally, it will require community involvement with people or persons "nominating" a DTV event that may be on television and is worthy of attention.

What do you think?

Something like:

"Sunday 8.30p, Channel Nine will show Program X in HD"

which in the calendar will appear as:

"Program X (9) - 8.30p" on the day in question.

i think that when services start, that they should be noted in the calander as sort of a "time capsuale"

I'll second both of these ideas for using the calendar.

Showing when special presentations or programs will be on will increase awareness for the people already converted and if things are known far enough in advance or if we get enough good things coming up we can print off copies for all our friends and say, this is what you're missing out on.

I really like the time capsule idea of marking when the stations begin transmissions or testing in areas, this can also work for in the future when dates are known for a new service beginning or for an existing service becoming widescreen or other technological advancements like fibre optics coming online etc...

Sounds great thus far. =)

The DBA site (or the forums) should have a list of upcoming 'switch ons'

agreed

Greta idea my brain sometimes acts like digital its either a 0 or a 1 mostly zero's so a reminder would be great but you still have to rely on some sort of guide unless you get information directly from the networks

Just on this, if anyone wants to advise of a timeline addition and/or a DTV-specific important issue for the calendar, please post here. =)

Could not agree more...in the Manning Valley, NSW, we only have ABC & SBS digital transmissions at present, with speculation NBN (Nine Network) may start up before Christmas, the other commercial stations commencing broadcasts "sometime in early 2005."

"Information" rather than "speculation" would be the best option.
