Snapper() Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Item: Infinity Kappa 7.2i Location: Melbourne, Bulleen 3105Price: $800 FIRMItem Condition: Excellent - 9.5/10 - no marks, no scratches, grills 100%Reason for selling: Time for something new - trying out some JBL L100T and need to pass these on.Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: Bought off another SNA member a few months ago. These replaced some Yamaha NS70T / Osborn Eclipse. These are in truly spectacular condition. Wonderful deep bass and mid-range - certainly better than the Eclipse's I owned, and not as forward as the Yamaha NS70T. Pics are pretty bad I know and do no justice, but I will take better ones in daylight. These have all the 'good stuff' in them - EMIT-R tweeters, Polydome midrange and a 10 inch driver. The later versions (8/9) are quite a bit more power hungry, and these babies are driven with great ease by a late 80's Sansui Alpha. Although being a classic speaker, information on this particular model (second series of the 7.2i) is a little sparse. The second gen saves about 10% weight on the original, updated version of the Polydome midrange ( thinner and has a rear diffuser ) and improved stiffness. The midrange inparticular would be the standout IMHO. It's just perfectly balanced and the bass is punchy without being over-bearing. Pretty glorious speaker overall and not entirely convinced I should pass them on. If they don't sell on SNA i'll just keep them. well reviewed (of course) http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/infinity-systems/kappa-7-1-series-2/prd_119660_1594crx.aspx They are not particularly fussy about source either which is great, so they pretty much sound good with anything. Definitely the best set of speakers i've ever owned. An no, they don't suffer from known Infinity problems such as yellowing or brittle domes. Atjan Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 At the price these are such a bargain. If it was in Sydney I would probably have dug into my savings... To me they sound better than many more recent high end speakers I've heard. And that is not because I like a 'vintage' sound - they just sound great.
