  1. I know! If I lived locally I would snap it up straight away! But I only the sub so hoping who ever buys it will on sell it.
  2. Really would like to get the sub. Let me know if you want to make a deal.
  3. Okay who can service old Luxman LV 105s (yes I have 2 now) amps in Melbourne? Clarke Audio who serviced my LV105 a decade ago, is going into new directions and is servicing above $10k amps these days and only rarely. Did a good job resoldering, retubing and modifying the tone control my old LV105 a decade ago. So wanting someone who has had good experiences.
  4. Interesting development on the Tekton's happening on ASR and Audioholics.
  5. Does he do electronics? The problem is fast motor speed and no sound. It is not just a mechanical issue.
  6. They did not get back to me on my enquiry so I don't think they do. Electronics are beyond him. Repaired fairly well a turntable but. Seems to be his specialty. Considering a guy called Jorge, but at $155 for the 1st hour 🤔.........
  7. I assume these ARE DC-6s? Heavy bugger. Not Gen4 from my research TIA
  8. Following on from my topic on Luxman cassette deck, I also have a Luxman P100. I and the seller had no idea on how to operate it, but the tone arm did go across from the rest position but did not go down. Is the P100 worth fixing and by whom? The missus got her dads old Marantz TT2200 and it is working and she wants to keep it. But if the Luxman is worth fixing may pass it on to the kids. TIA
  9. Just recently bought a stack of Luxman gear. At the last minute they included said cassette deck (with another ) stating it was chewing up tapes. Said I could take it and bin it if I wanted to. Looks to have been worked on. Who should I have a look at it please and give me a honest price if it is repairable? The missus has a few tapes laying around and I would get this unit fixed for her. I am situated in the north east Green Wedge area. TIA
  10. Anyone know what the LV105 sold new for in the 80s?
  11. Contained in the article from 2007 is some info on the speaker: "The 'speakers were more successful, Mike putting some of his own ideas into a unique version of the well-known Tonigen ribbon tweeter. A diaphragm was developed that could survive running at temperatures in excess of 200°C (most tweeters fry once they get near 70°C). In addition to this, the unit was designed with a mechanical roll-off that side-stepped the need for a crossover. The bass unit was a TPX cone, with a simple inductor fitted to limit its high-frequency response." https://web.archive.org/web/20070920183435/https://www.hi-fiworld.co.uk/hfw/oldeworldehtml/alphasonhr100s.html
  12. Yep Gen 3. Last made in 2005. Now at Gen6. This is the Gen 4 note the different cover https://web.archive.org/web/20050616044337/http://vaf.com.au/detail.asp?audio=dc&grunt=I11i26724 The last price list I can find: https://web.archive.org/web/20050115105309/http://www.vaf.com.au/new_home.htm?catalog/sctn_title.htm&catalog/dc_menu.htm&catalog/dc_title.htm&catalog/products/dcx.htm New drivers? Cat got to them as I see it stalking the speakers in one of the pics. Note: Gen4s ($2500 new) being sold for $1000 on Gummy.
  13. In the last few weeks I have been down a rabbit hole trying to find out whatever happened to the company, Alphason, that made the speakers. To me they sounded nice (and still do) when I bought them in '91 from the Botany St hifi store in Canberra. Well I reached out to Alphason Audio in the UK. Mark Knowles kindly responded that he sold the original company Alphason Designs in 2000s. They made the Amphion and unusual looking Orpheus speakers, plus amps and furniture. Mark has returned to the industry with Alphson Audio Specialists making a new series of tone arms and is the process of releasing a new set of speakers. I will be following the developments.
  14. CD player died many moon ago. Replaced in the last 5 years. I'll give them a go and test the loudspeakers from all of these online tutorials I have been watching. Thanks
  15. Bought these in 1990 in Canberra for my then stereo system powered by Luxman LV 105 that I still have and a Luxman CD player (dead now). Sounded good. But have hardly used the system in the last 20 years. The LV 105 has has a few repairs in the last 10 years and I guess it will not be repairable next time it fails. Wonder if the loudspeakers were any good in retrospect? Would they need to be serviced after 3 decades? TIA
