  1. hehe. Ask him to let you hear the three blind mice recording with the wicked double bass and pianos. He should know which I'm referring to. ;)
  2. i had the opportunity to drop by steve's place yesterday (after a long absence :D) and listen to his current setup with the poisonous PCs. he did mention that the PCs for the source (in this case, the 3.5k+) and the amp (2k+) are a bit different, and while the source PC is ready, the amp PC was still a prototype and very much work in progress. in a nutshell, after hearing the system in action, the normal unease and 'tightness' that i associate music from a CD source are more or less eliminated, and the whole presentation is very relaxed, with a very distinct soundscape. also, i am still amazed at the note 3's ability to deliver a monster sized double bass note with accurate definition. poison poison .. ! also, good to meet with 2 of the bros over at the shop ...
  3. well, i last read about the phono stage on astin trew's own blog . however, their newest post is from Oct 2009, and they take forever to update. ;D if their news is correct, the stage should already be released. i asked steve a while ago and he did confirm that they are indeed releasing it ... soon. :)
  4. oh .. i didn't realise that the 3.5k+ doesn't have xlrs. thought that they would factor it in for the optimum option to connect to the 2k+. i'm waiting to hear about at's first foray into phono amps. if it's going to be anything like what they've been doing with their amps/cdps, it should be quite poisonous ... !
  5. haven't visited steve for a while, and it seems he's got more new toys to poison us. ;D
  6. unless i'm mistaken, the OP was asking about the Mk2, not the M5G.
  7. hi, can i find out what has been reduced in this tube amp?
  8. righto. thanks for the note. :)
  9. great pictures. how's the zupreme headshell working for you?
  10. yeah ... i think he's experiencing a massive push from his current club ;)
  11. i see. true true ... i'm running 'em through the beresford ... works for me, though i haven't tried out the maverick nor the peachtree.
  12. what are the odds of bellamy joining arsene's squad in jan? ;)
  13. i tried both the d2000 and the d5000 before deciding on the 2000. to me, it gave a more natural and balanced sound ... :)
  14. cool. do share your findings when you've listened more. think i'll stop hijacking DH's thorens thread.. sorry! ;D
  15. i see .. both these decks are legends in their own right. since you just came back to the Linn after sometime with the gyrodec, which do you prefer and why? i remember hearing the gyrodec at your place, but don't quite remember the characteristics anymore.
