  1. Hi everyone, I was quite set on getting the 42" Panasonic (5 series) until I saw the new Hitachi Crystalis. Picture quality seems far superior and it comes with an in-built TV tuner (unlike the Panasonic). Anyone have any views on the Hitachi ? Also, can anyone recommend a "test DVD" that I can use to compare the pic quality of the 2 sets. Thanks
  2. Hi, I've done some research in the past about RF splitters. Apparently, you can safely split the signal from the cable box to up to 2/3 devices (eg TV, VCR, PC) without significant degradation. Any idea where you can buy a cable splitter in Singapore. I will need to split the cable signal to a TV tuner box, and to my PC TV card. Makes no sense to get two cable boxes from SCV just for my living room. Thanks in advance....
  3. Hi, Just to tag on an additional question about VGA input via the 'modified' tuner. Any idea whether the resolution that is set on the PC will be used, or whether it will scale down to 640 x 480. Thanks in advance....
  4. Thanks duckling ..... Am going to hook up a small PC to act as a Digital Video Recorder and as a surfing station in the living room. That's why I needed the VGA input. Looks like I can buy a Panny after all........
  5. Hi Humsup, Thanks for your feedback.... Any idea how you would get Panasonic to mod the tuner box. I'm really keen on the Panasonic 42" but "no VGA input" is a deal breaker for me. Any chance I can see your brother's plasma close-up when it's delivered :)
  6. Hi, Just a side-issue which may concern you. I've read that for some silly reason, the VGA input on the plasma diasbles itself once you plug the Tuner in, and that the Tuner box itself has no VGA port. If this is true, you can't connect a computer to the plasma *at the same time* as other video sources. Apparently, you would need to physically disconnect the tuner before the computer connection will work. Can anyone confirm this ....
