I made solid core spk cable from a transformer . Basically with various tools and brute force I dismantled the many t shaped core plates . now with access to coil bobbin I unwound the primary ( approx 12m's) straightened it , put plastic tubing around it ( tedious threading job ) twisted it and noticed immediate sonic improvment . may have been placebo effect but ?

Thanks for all your inputs . I think it may have been the negative on sub not being earthed ? I bypassed the protection with sacrificial speakers . got some signal and that dc hum so it's gone DC . will that mean all output devices need replacing and possibly more down the chain ? the sub is around 600 ohms , didn't think that would hurt it but class A is obviously more sensitive than AB to spk connection sub . Can anyone recomend a tech (inner west sydney) or should we just buy two output modules from altronics ?

Hello , My friend bought a silicon chip class A 20watt amp kit made up . it worked until he connected a sub via spkr outputs , turned sub up and all went dead ? I had a look and the relay in protection circuit is permanently off . I replaced it no change . there's ac going in to sense and 19.6v dc ( not 22v as in manual ) going in . have we blown output transistors or something in protection circuit ? my next move was bypass protection and try it for a second . then we know its protection ic's not output devices . Is my thinking good ? pls help
