The German youtube videos are a bit offputting. Is the Vantage 8000T a Korean unit produced for the European market now replacing the Mediastar 8000T in Aus? I was hoping for a direct lineage from the Mediastar DT-9022 ("Fantasico") which I have. Korean made and Italian design apparently, with a friendly user interface. The DT-9022 tuner is good but my unit has always had issues with intermittent sound dropouts in recordings (up to a few seconds, several per hour). Maybe inadequate processor and/or HDD accessing which is made worse if several tasks are being asked simultaneously. Seems like it's getting worse so I might try defragging the HDD on the PC. I've seen reference to HD "stuttering" for the 8000T but this seems to refer to dolby processing. If users agree the Vantage is the same/better than the Mediastar then it appeals as a replacement for the old 9022 model which has run nicely for more than 2 years without sleep. I prefer to record SD except now GEM and MATE have shown up. The SD image upscaling is more than adequate from my Samsung TV/surround system. Anyone willing to venture that the Vantage will suit me?
