  1. Best Money ever spent, you will not regret the Power Amp Upgrade. You will get more bang for buck this way rather than spending XYZ on complete new Speakers.
  2. I wonder how much the top end of Audio in Australia as been caught out on the Exchange Rate and slow moving stock that is worth less now than when they bought it 6 months, 12 months ago?
  3. Perth's Retail Sector and Housing is in the absolute Dogs, absolutely *******. This is our GFC manifesting itself, 2 years after the event. If not for the mining boom.... Does not surprise me one iota the high end of town is closing down. Enough of the doom and gloom from WA, I'm firing up the screen tonight.
  4. Just watched this last night. I wasn't expecting much and I was so pleasantly surprised. It felt like I was watching something that will go down as a milestone in Sci-Fi. And the Sound, everything you've read on how good it is, is spot on and then some. Just mind blowing, absolutely mind blowing. I can't think of any other movie that comes close. The bar has been raised, this one's a game changer. Forget about War of The Worlds with LFE. It's the first movie at home where I've questioned if I need a better Sub, I don't think mine kept up with the pace all that well. The Soundtrack is phenomenal, but then I like this type of music. It's got a game changing feel like Vangelis was to Bladerunner. I didn't find the soundtrack overpowering the bike scenes or speech, everything was crystal clear for me. Yes, I noticed the intro said shifting aspect rations. I played this in 2.35 and there were no shifting aspect ratios for me, i.e. my whole screen was filled with the image for the entirety of the movie. Anyone else care to comment? I'm still gobsmacked.
  5. You nailed it, just rewatched with Clear Motion Drive off and... I can't believe I've put up with this for 7 months. Clear Motion still has a more stable / precise picture IMO, but I can't put with the negatives of it. Thank You
  6. That's pretty much it, This is a setting on the Projector? Just getting my Manual out.
  7. Hoping someone can help with my JVC 950 The Ghosting / Silhouetting tends to be around People / objects moving against the background. Speed doesn't have to be great and tends to be when there's a big contrast in colours. I'd describe it as few cm of Transparent / Halo around a person. Most noticeable say when a person is walking amongst the green forest, amongst trees. But it's almost consistently there in scenes, to some degree. It's driving me nuts, because I'm now constantly scrutinising every scene to watch for it. I'm watching for Projector flaws now instead of enjoying a movie. I'm finding this "Halo" very eye fatiguing. This issue was straight out of the box, I just chose to ignore it and I'm finding I can't do so anymore. I can also add I've put on 250 Hours on the Unit and haven't had it Professionally Calibrated, Professionally Installed, but not Calibrated yet. Watching Wall Street 2 tonight was particularly bad. Especially the medium speed panning across close up Buildings, Window lines were broken up, small pockets of windows blurred... I had not seen this kind of issue before. Press pause in amogst any of this and the still is perfect with no defects as decribed above. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, or perhaps this is some kind of inherent flaw in most projectors. Thanks Edit: And if the Mods could move this to the Projector Section it would be aprreciated
  8. Correct, even though the back speakers are wireless, they still need power in the back of the room. The other problem with Wireless, they work fine at mid to high sound levels. At 30-40% and under volumes, the backs will constantly be kicking in / out of sound. i.e. Softer parts of the movie, ala wind at the back, rain, the sound will go off and then on with more solid rear sound, unless the volumes are cranked up. In the end, the room I had mine in, was not closed off, so watching something in the middle of the night, with the family in bed got tiresome. So I just ended up wiring the rears and running the cables behind skirting boards. Once I wired up the rears, I was much happier and I suupose that's the beauty of Wireless, there's that flexibility. For the price and what they are, they are quite decent and I am surprised in the quality of sound they put out. The Accusounds were my first foray into Surround Sound. I still have my Accusounds from 2.5 years ago, just have to get off my lazy backside and sell them.
  9. Sorry, I don't understand what the Vault is, coming in / out of the vault, the moratorium, subject to the vault etc... Could someone explain what this means? Cheers
  10. Just make sure that if you go to 120" that the projector and distance to screen can display that size. Get a feel for the size of it at a shop, i.e stand back from it like you would at home distance. Also at that size, is the projector bright enough. Yes, love my setup. With a 3.8m wide room, the screen is 30cm in from the walls, each side, almost fills the whole wall and feels like the whole wall is the screen. Regards P.S. Beware of the dreaded upgraditus.
  11. On the subject of seating distances and calculators, some real world experience, My room is 5.8m Deep. One row of couches on the back wall. Screen is 0.3m off the front wall. Seated on Couch to Screen Distance is 5.3m. Screen is 130" in Scope. No idea what the optimal seating distance is, but I regulary pull up a bean bag and watch from anywhere between 3.0 to 4.0m away. That's obviously on the ground and head slanted upwards at around 30 degrees (supported by Bean Bag of course). Perfect viewing distance IMO. With mates over, 3 on the coach, 2 on bean bags, works wonders, great viewing evening. And after the initial, OMFG look at the size of this movie I'm watching, you'll be wishing for a larger screen within a few weeks. All the best with it. P.S. I haven't come across anyone wishing they'd gone a smaller screen (so long as it's within reason of course)
  12. How much is your total budget? Are you going Scope or not? Motorized Screen or No? Considered Second hand JVC 750 or 950? If motorized , have you factored in how much it costs, the installation costs and the sheer weight of them? i.e, a 3-4 man job. Cheers
