  1. DHL , TNT , FEDEX are all freight forwarders. Witha door to door service, they will clear the goods through Australian customs , and do the delivery all for one price. A separate Freight Forwarder will usually cost you and additional $100+ for their professional fees , customs entry and any administrative costs. It is usually better to use a FF when you are doing BULK imports of many different commodities in the one consolidation. The whole point of using a regular forwarder is that they will have an intimate knowledge of your products with the correct Tariff classifications and can usually pay any import duties and taxes on your behalf and have them deferred on your account. In this instance, depending on the package size and volume, it may be cheaper to use a door to door carrier like DHL or FEDEX etc. Be prepared to pay any import duty COD on these items though !!!!
  2. Yes..........the latest review by C Net categorically proved that the KOGAN was far superior to the ougoing PIONEER products and the new offerings by SAMSUNG. In fact, the KOGAN stuff was so good that C Net are now using them as starter motors for their PANASONIC test panels.............LOL
  3. Yes, I have seen this in the SET UP and will disable the message option. One still wonders why it would not understand the connectivity to begin with ?? Oh well, doesn't sound like a biggy.........
  4. Why do I get a HDCP message on my telly for a split second using the IQ2 box ?? "Due to HDCP support not being detected from your TV this program cannot be viewed" My telly is a brand new PANASONIC TH50PZ850A. The IQ2 box is connected via HDMI and the warning appears when you switch from the TV input to the FOXTEL input . The message banner appears for about 1 second and then disappears. The picture then displays perfectly. The fact that picture and sound work perfectly would suggest that the TV is HDCP compliant............so why the warning message ??? Is there a signal delay from the TV back to the IQ box ?
  5. Pardon my ignorance here, but do these sets even have a " service " menu ????? I know the Pio and Sammys do, but have not seen one on the 850's ?
  6. Pardon my ignorance here, but do these sets even have a " service " menu ????? I know the Pio and Sammys do, but have not seen one on the 850's ?
  7. Thanks for that link.........a good read ! Jim
  8. Are the sparklies more to do with incorrect compliant cables for the equipment used ?? I just tried a HDMI cable from BUNNINGS.........yep.......the hardware store...... and compared it to a MONSTER THXV100 cable from a PS3 to a 50" PANA 850A.......... No sparklies, no degradation, in fact PQ was pretty much identical ???????? Cable lengths were 1m and 1.5 m respectively. Maybe over longer distances there would be a difference ?? BTW........this forum and many of the contributors are a brilliant source of info and knowledge for newbies like me........so any further input and tech on this topic is great.......I've learnt so much already.
  9. What I have recently discovered is that the difference is in the compliance standard. If you get a cable that is 1.3a/b compliant, then there should be no issues regardless of manufacturer or price. The length of the cable is also a lot more relevant than the brand. The longer the cable - especially greater than 3+ metres, the greater the chance of some very minor data loss or speed of data transfer. The more expensive cables that contain more precious metals in the copper coatings may show a slight advantage here ??????? I have 3 HDMI cables at home that I've just swithched over and have been "testing "..........1 x MONSTER THXV100 ( 1 metre ) 1 x FOXTEL IQ2 cable ( 1.5 metres ) 1 x BUNNINGS SPECIAL ( 1 metre )...........when hooked up to my PS3 into my 50" Pana 850A Plasma..........I'd be buggered If I can tell the difference ???????................Only tried this an hour or so ago when I had the urge to start investigating these things as well.
  10. Yes they certainly do..........but tis a shame that they're hidden behind the telly........LOL I was more concerned about the potential quality regarding the FOXTEL HDMI cable........but the C Net review put that to bed. I guess so long as it's 1.3 compliant, that's all that is required. It is a very heated area for discussion though. I'm thinking quality cabling is probably more important for analogue signal where the potential for degradation is higher. With digital signal I imagine it either works or it doesn't ????
  11. Aha !!!.........I think I found what I was looking for : http://reviews.cnet.com/hdmi-cable/ Looks like the Standard cable out of the box will be fine .............
  12. Are the HDMI cables you supply better quality than what comes standard with the FOXTEL IQ2 bundle ???? The cable in the install pack looks quite good with gold connectors and thick shielding ? Also, what makes one cable better than another ?..........I keep reading that the MONSTER brand are TOP QUALITY ?
  13. I wonder how much the TH-P50V10A will cost ?? Considering the G seies 50"is around the 2500 - 3000 mark, looks like the the V series 50"will break over the 4K mark ? Either way, it looks like a fantastic unit and definitely would have been my pick if my 50"850A didn't materialise when it did a couple of weeks ago.
  14. That is bizarre !!!!!! These remotes are certainly temperamental.......its definitely not the BOX because the IQ1 remote doesn't have any issues. Judging from the responses so far, it seems it may be a generic firmware issue with the remote ??
  15. Well..just had the new IQ2 box installed. So far so good.....although I preferred the old IQ1 " blue" menu GUI. PQ is good via HDMI and slightly better than the IQ1 via SCART to component. HD FTA channels look very good with similar looking PQ to the FTA HD through the telly. The remote control looks great with the piano black finish..........but.........it is not as sensitive as the old unit. You really have to point it directly at the IQ2 for it to work ?????? I retained the old IQ1 remote and it works better than the IQ2 remote on the IQ2 box........go figure ??????? Apart from that anomaly, so far so good.
  16. I went through the exact same thing not too long ago.........realistically , there isn't much difference in the way of PQ or a vast gap in the technologies used. I erred on the side of caution and bought the Panasonic PLASMA over the SAMSUNG purely based on the retailers experience of how many SAMSUNG sets they see returned for repair / replacement v Panasonic v SONY v PIONEER v Toshiba. To my eyes, the SAMSUNGS always look more cutting edge in their design and decor, the PQ is excellent, but their reliability is poor compared to other major manufacturers. Again, I have no hard and fast statistics to post that show numbers, but the retailer assured me that there was a huge disparity in numbers..........and they're a major SAMSUNG retailer. I think that if the SAMMY sets prove to be "more reliable" I think they'll be unbeatable.......for the time being, Panasonic / SONY will get my money every time.
  17. You should also try the Overscan feature on the telly. It will enlarge the picture slightly to "hide" any jaggies and noise on the edges of the picture. It may also rectify the issue you are seeing ?
  18. .........ha ha..........another Hardley Normal defector........ Seems a lot of stores are getting their orders / stock in waaaaaay before HN ?? I also cancelled my HN order and got my 850A immediately from the Good Guys in Victoria. Thanks to this forum and the information I got almost 2 weeks ago about stock availability and whereabouts....I've been enjoying my 850A for a week and a half already now !!!!!!!
  19. Will try this when we get the IQ2 soon Thank You Jim
  20. Are you saying that IQ2 will upscale 1080i to 1080P if your TV is capable of 1080P.....?? In the online manaul for IQ2 it only states 1080i capability ? Jim
  21. Does IQ2 via HDMI upscale at all ? Will the general FOXTEL programming on IQ1 look better on an IQ2 with HDMI connection ? IQ2 is a $200 upgrade, so if there is no benefit from IQ1 with general FOXTEL programs then I can't see any benefit unless you have an older Tele with no inbuilt HD / SD tuner and you want to watch a lot of Digital FTA as well as FOXTEL? It's also additional if you want to access any of the FOXTEL HD programming such as NAT GEO HD / DISCOVERY HD etc.... I wonder if the FTA HD channels are free to access through IQ2 or is that part of the extra $$$ monthly layout for accessing HD channels regardless of FOXTEL or FTA...... Clear as mud.....
  22. Newbie question here.........so go easy.........LOL Does anyone know the output of the IQ1 STU ? I've hooked mine up to my new PANA 50" 850A via Scart to Component and the tele is telling me it is receiving a 571i signal. Is this correct ? I thought that the IQ1 box had a better output than that. What is FTA standard digital ?............just curious as it definitely looks better than the quality of the FTA channels through the Foxtel IQ I'm assuming that FTA HD is 1080i .........I guess the IQ2 is required to replicate HD FTA channels ( HDMI connection )
  23. That's what you'd expect from a very expensive toy.........faultless performance. I'm wondering if it is LOGITECH QC or just a dodgy seller that picked up a bad batch of units for a "good "price and just on sold them ?? It was an eBay re seller after all ......... But the unit was in an unopened package..........brand new and the feedback from others was pretty good. Got me perplexed how 2 separate units could display the same issue ? Might try again from another seller........I really like this unit and really want "one"...........LOL
