  1. Thank's for your reply Dantan, I did see this post a while back, a good price even with the 850 pre-amp and not the 870. I will be listing this item on ebay as a complete system only. With option for local pickup and you are located in Perth it could be worth your while. Cheers Del
  2. Hello I am selling my vintage stereo gear Rotel RT-850A Stereo Tuner Rotel RC-870BX Stereo Control Amplifier (Pre-Amp) Rotel RB-870BX Stereo Power Amplifier I purchased this equipment here in Perth Australia in 1987 for AUS$2000 Would anyone here know what would be a reasonable asking price for this equipment now? Please make known of what currency you are quoting. Images of equipment: http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u53/VHDEL/Rotel/ Regards Del
  3. Thank you very much for your reply. I did actually try this method HDMI > TV IN Analog out > Amp in and it looked like it was going to work a treat Unfortunately it means keeping my 58" Pasma TV on just for playing music back all day which I don't want to do. In the mean time just to get by I am using HTPC VGA out to TV PC input HTPC RCA out split signal going to TV PC input ans Aux1 amp. Thai has kept the TV AV signal in sync and all works ok. The big downside is VGA out will only allow 1300x750 approx res means no HDTV and bluray playback The only thing I can think of right now is get a AV receiver with HDMI and a HDMI splitter. SO the signal would be HDMI out of HTPC/ split HDMI, on signal to TV the other to AVR. The AVR would only be processing the audio siganl as I would not be going HDMI out of the AVR, from what I have read the video upscalling is not all that great. That way I can turn off my AVR and still had HDMI to TV in sync, Turn on the AVR to have stereo. Would this work splitting the HDMI?
  4. Hello I have finaly received my new HTPC but having problems with the best way to set it up to my Samsung A650 Plasma TV. What I want to do is have the option of watching TV using the TV speakers only or by simply turning on my Amp have stereo. I have tried ouputting from my HTPC. HDMI to TV HDMI then have 3.5mm stereo out from the PC to AUX IN on my stereo. Problem is when viewing TV broadcast on my Hauppauge TV tuner card the AV signal is out of sync. It will play back DVD & movies stored on my HDD ok, just not the TV signal. First I though it might be my tuner card but if I select HDMI audio output from my PC sound devices everything is back in sync, unfortunatelly I cant output HDMI to my amp. It means having to switch audio device output within windows as it can not do multiple output. In/Output for the devices I have: TV - Samsung A650 Plasma = HDMIx4/ PC VGA audio LR/ Digital audio out/ AV1 / AV2 HTPC motherboard is Gigabyte EP45-UD3R = optical spdif / coaxial spdif / RCA outs Line out/Mic/side speakers/sub Asus 4670 video card = HDMI / DVI / VGA outs AMP is a 20 yr old Rotel 870 RX/BX pre-power amp only with RCA inputs, no optical or HDMI. /CD/Aux1/Aux2 inputs available. If I were to purchase a new AV receiver, would this solve my problems. Any advice would be appreciated Cheers
  5. Thank's for your reply. Any thought on using a HDMI splitter so I can use HDMI for both TV and AVR? Cheers
  6. Thank's for your reply If I connect both TIVO and PS3 to the Receiver, what would happen to the signal if the receiver was turned off so I could just watch TV/DVD on my TV without stereo sound? Do these AV receivers have some sort of throughput, a bit like the antenna throughput on VCR's, if the VCR is off the signal passes through and the TV still gets the signal
  7. Hello Sorry if this seem like a newbie question, I'm hoping some of you may give me some advice on connecting this all together and work like I want it too. Equipment list: Harmoy One remote - Controling all equipment below Samsung A650 Plasma TV TIVO DVR Playstaion 3 - (Not purchased yet) mainly to be use for media player AV receiver - (Not purchased yet) maybe you could suggest one for the requirments I need. Ok I would like to have all this equipment connected in such a way that when I am watching TV via TIVO / play DVD& bluray or divx from the PS3 HDD I have the option of having the AV surround sound on or have it turned off and all sound is played back through the TV only. The reason I would like your help is for example the TIVO is connected via HDMI to the TV. If I were to introduce an AV system with HDMI, then connecting the TIVO to TV via the AV unit, would this mean every time I want to watch TV the AV also has to be on? Once again I do appologize for what may seem to you as a simple connection, any advice on how best to connect this equipment and have the audio option as requested As stated, I do not have the AV receiver yet, so any advice on a half decent unit, somthing in the price range AUS$1000 or maybe more if it has some feature needed for my purpose. Thank you for reading and looking forward to any helpful replies. Regards Del
  8. As already mentioned, it pricey. How hard would it have been for Sony to include IR, after all don't most devices.
  9. I just received an email from Logitech today informing me of IR-BR options for the PS3. They did not even mention the official Logitech device. According to the link below it can't be to far away from being released. http://blog.logitech.com/2009/03/20/caught...lu-ray-control/
