  1. Item:Wadia 171i ipod transport Price Range: Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Looking for one to pair with a recently resurrected family ipod classic.
  2. see the Toshiba website http://www.isd.toshiba.com.au/redemption/r_index.asp it's done online.
  3. That's pretty good. But if anyone is interested they should get the salesman to confirm in writing that you will get the cash back + warranty as the Toshiba offer expired on Tuesday and their website doesn't have any updated offers. Just so you don't caught off guard.
  4. Hi vbap I've looked at the Toshiba - my view is that if you are after an xv500 series to not get the 42" version as the panel specs are nothing special. Visually I didn't really like the picture at all (I've just bought the 46" which has a higher contrast ratio and response time - the 42" appears to be generation old).
  5. Wags and mdm Yes - you do have to fool around with the settings in store so that you are comparing like with like on different Tv's. I went early on a weekday so there was less store traffic. As Allan C said, he'd got a price from Bing Lee for $2600 which Myer were prepared to price match. On top of that (up to today) Toshiba were offering an extra 3 yr warranty + $250 cash back on the 46xv500a (plus the Wii which was the deciding factor, apart from PQ and the fact that it has a matt panel - our family room has doors/skylight facing the TV) Make sure that you are not comparing the sony to the 42xv500a. There is a huge difference between the 42" version and the 46" because the panel specs aren't the same. To me the 42" was substantially poorer in quality and I wouldn't get one. The Sony W4000 series easily beats this. The alternative (in my view) would be the panasonic plasma or samsung 6 at around this price level (if you wanted a 46"). I'd happy to report back once I've set ours up. The only negative that I can see is that it has less inputs than other TVs - only 1 set each of svideo and composite compared with 2 for most others, and the s-video is on the side. Not so much an issue for me as I use a separate input switcher (made by Joytech which performs great and looks good but which unfortunately is no longer available).
  6. Thanks for your advice and help Allan! Well, we finally bought the Tosh. Compared side to side with the Panasonic pz800 and the Sony X. Not as contrasty compared to plasma but totally agree with you that PQ was better than the X (in my view, and my wife's, who was with me at the time). She did the final pick and chose the Tosh over the panasonic. We ended up getting it from Macquarie Centre for $100 more than what you paid, plus the WII. Still - a pretty good deal all things considered. So now waiting patiently for it to be delivered! chengsta
  7. Hi Allan Thanks for the reply - had another look today and am a bit closer to pulling the trigger, given the price. I should be ok with the Myer info you gave. Did you compare against the Panasonic pz800 plasma panel? Other than colour (when compared to this set - tho need to do a bit more comparison this weekend) I think you are right in relation to this vs the xbr.
  8. Sorry if this is OT - rnd_tang - how do you find your new TV, on SD/HD/DVD? I'm thinking of the same Toshiba, as against a Panasonic plasma or Samsung 650. Thanks!
  9. Hi Allan C I was thinking of getting this set given the offers now on. I was down in Myer Sydney at lunch to look at this set (10% off the sticker price only) Can I ask you a couple of questions: - what do you think of the picture quality now that you have played with it at home. In the store, with picture setting on standard and looking at SD broadcast from a central location the picture was quite good (no artifacts and quite smooth) but appeared somewhat washed out when compared to a Panny pz800 and Samsung 650 nearby. DVD was indistinguishable from other sets (although animation isn't the best comparison). I'd love to hear your views as there are no reviews on this tv. I will be heading out to another dealer on the weekend to look at the set. - could you send me a copy of the receipt or tell me the salesperson's name at Myer Castle Hill whom you dealt with. That is a really good price - close on $2k after the value of the WII is taken into account. Thanks!
