  3. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated.
  4. Hi, Looking at setting up a 7.1 setup in my bedroom (~ 4m x 6m). Was looking at Krix speakers and think the Brix and Seismix1 will do the job. What is a good amp for these speakers? Was looking at Denon or Onkyo? Running a PS3, Wii and a media PC currently. Mainly for watching BD, TV and music. Total n00b at this, so any advice appreciated.
  5. When I tell someone I am a gamer, I get the "look", but simply reply it is better than the Bold and the Beautiful, Idol, BB or any other crap they put on tv these days. I play less than people sit in front of the idiot box at night.
  6. Have PS3, Wii and a "high end" gaming PC. The Wii is a toy, fun when friends drop in for drinkies. Hardly use it, the Wii fit is fun. The PS3 plays movies, Buzz and Bf:BC, but 95% of the time it is a video player, can't wait for playTV though!! The gaming PC however is the go mate. I can't get off it! BF2, COD4 oh my!! Yeah buy a 360, you know you want to. I agree with the previous poster about time, no time to enjoy all the features of all the toys. I would love to explore my PS3 more, but work/"quality time" with the Mrs/sleep/watching the BD movie collection/social life all bite into my tech fetish.
  7. Select HDMI2 (or PC) from the source menu and they "should" appear. Once again, I hope this helps. I am very happy with my Sammy.
  8. Try different HDMI ports. The manual says HDMI2 for a PC. read page 42 and 43 of your manual to adjust. Try auto and screen adjustment, try the position setting also under screen adjustment. The manual also made mention of using a high quality cable, but this doesn't seem like your issue Hope this helps.
  9. Make the pana LCD the primary display? Change the refresh rate? Try another cable? swap cables? Dunno much about the pana LCD's, but with the sammy you "should" have the PC plugged into a certain input (HDMI3) from memory? Hope this helps. EDIT: try dragging the window you display your pictures on, to the pana LCD?
  10. I procrastinated for months over what to buy. I own an la40a650
  11. Another thing to set is key reset from default (3600), to say 180 seconds in your wpa settings on your router if it supports it. Then sniffer has less time to use it before the key resets and has to start all over again. Wireless security is multilayered, previous posters have got it all right. 1. mac filtering 2. WPA/WPA2, change it regulary, keep them guessing if you are suss. 3. don't broadcast SSID (make SSID name weird; angry paranoid haxing gun owner ) 4. signal power only as much as you need. 5. change default password on your router 6. monitor connection logs if you are really worried. Generally, a thief will move to an easier target and leave you alone. Now for an ancidote; I work in IT. A client was complaining that her internet was slow. I rock up to site to find she is using an unsecured router, she lived above a cafe. As i walked out on her verandah, there is a dude sitting there outside drinking his soy decaf latte going for it on his thinkpad. I told my client "look at that". she felt violated and was going to go down and tell the soy decaf latte drinker off, I said "hang on, watch this". I secured the router, steps 1,2 ,3, 4, 5 and went outside to see my soy decaf latte drinking mate physically looking over his thinkpad wondering wtf happened! Another happy customer.
  12. JB & EZY DVD say 9th OCT for local release on BD
  13. Hi, Sorry to be a link whore, but found this. http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view....cid=18&pg=1 Thought it may be of some interest to the community. Cheers, myplague.
  14. Through this fantastic forum Another forum poster posted his price and what store he purchased it from. I rang another store in the chain closer to home and asked them if they would match the price, they said yes. Scored a PS3 cheap from this forum as well. Very happy and I feel very informed. I have had a couple of mates do the group buy too, all went well. DTVFORUM
  15. Got mine today. New in box, unopened. Will sell for $400.00 cash Central Coast or Northern Sydney for pickup. PM me if interested.
  16. It might have been the telecast? I watched the kayaking on a replay on CH7 news and it was fine on a Sammy 40" LCD. <off topic> Want to talk about jerking. I watched "blazing saddles" on BR the other night, talk about jerking, you could feel the cameramans footsteps in some scenes. No steady cam in 1973. </off topic> My two bob; yeah the logo is too bright, should just be a watermark. Shame, channel 7, shame.
  17. Got a PS3 hooked up to my Sammy LA40A650 via HDMI Mate... BluRay is wicked, the Mrs is most impressed Blew me away how clear it is, unbelievable. Jumper and Pearl Harbour are very good on BR. If anyone reading this is considering BR, I say go for it, I am really stoked. On a HD screen, you can certainly tell the difference between a DVD and BR. Cheers.
  18. OK... I am after ANOTHER PS3!!! Sydney area, I will pay cash for an unopened PS3. Will collect, don't want hassles, won't cause you grief. please email me or PM myplague69 (at) hotmail.com Cheers.
  19. Hi Mate, I am interested, can you please email me at cozzie @ emaildownunder.com Ready to buy today, will come and pick up. Don't want any hassle, will pay cash for an unopened PS3
  20. Thanks for getting this far. Much appreciated.
  21. Yeah, I saw that article, however the Samsung cost me my left nut.
  22. The "core OS" is in flash, no need to back up if it is a 'virgin'. I didn't back up mine and it works just fine. BTW, Blu Ray blew my mind, unbelievable.
  23. Yeah, put it in now, before you use it, no worries about data then. I put a 500Gb Samsung in mine no problems. As long as it is 2.5" SATA, you should be right. I had reservations about the heat generated from a 7200rpm drive, so went with 5400rpm. Have 2 x USB External HDD also to watch my Divx. Before you add the new HDD, download the new FW (2.41) and copy it to a USB key. As soon as you switch it on after the new HDD it will ask for a FW upgrade. Copy the file to PS3\UPDATE\ on your USB key. This is where the PS3 looks for it. FW update is 133Mb and you can get it from http://au.playstation.com/support/ps3/faqs...update241.jhtml Hope this helps.
  24. After a new one, prefer one the from Sony Bravia offer if possible. Cheers, myplague.
