  1. I have PlayTV on a projector and a 42" plasma and it's perfect in both instances. It's never missed a beat for me and gets perfect picture and audio quality. Seems a bit hit and mis for some but I can't speak highly enough of a $100 unit that turns my PS3 into a PVR with a sensational guide and allows remote recording/viewing from my PSP. Absolutely brilliant device!
  2. It's disappointing to hear about the problems some of you are experiencing, but for those interesting in getting PlayTV, my experience has been fantastic. I imported it from the UK a year ago and (touch wood) have not experienced any problems. I have a 320GB WD HDD in my PS3 and like an a pretty central metro area in Perth. The picture quality is fantastic and the only time I experience any sort of what'd you might call a stutter (but it is very minimal) is when playing really gfx/cpu games at the same time as recording, and even then the recording is still absolutely watchable. When my PS3 is recording a program only, it's perfect. It seems a lot has to do with the age of the PS3 unit, the quality and speed of the HDD and the quality (strength?) of the TV signal you receive. It looks like the moons aligned for me, so keep the faith!!
  3. Yep same... I'm actually having some luck in the evenings (~8pmWST) and getting 3-4 green bar connections in maybe 70% of my games. But this issue is far from resolved and the later it gets in the evening the worse it gets and it can't find matches for me or connects me to US hosts.
  4. That's who I've been keeping an eye on for that very reason!
  5. I know I'll be spending most of Monday checking every site and forum I can for talk of a store breaking the release date!!! Man I want this game right now...
  6. Yeah I'm keen to hear too....?
  7. What's that link for? Price? Bundle? Availability?....
  8. Yeah absolutely. I can rip the wheel around on the hairpin turns on GT5P and also flick it (and the car) from side to side on Colin McRae Dirt. I have been really impressed with it. And you can adjust height and reach etc so it's easy to set it up pretty comfortably.
  9. The Wheel Stand Pro is actually the one I got. But I got it about a year ago pre GFC and when the Aussie dollar was almost 1:1 with the US (It cost me <$200 back then). But it is a fantistic bit of kit And being able to collapse it and put it away quickly and easily gets bonus wife appreciation points
  10. Oh I thought the new one was going to be a true twin tuner? My mistake if not....
  11. Something good and solid to mount it too makes a HUGE difference I've found. If it's not mounted well you can't be as aggressive with tight corners or correcting over/under steer etc... A good driving position and mounting bracket took a lot of time off my previous bests.
  12. If a new one does come out with 'only' a larger HDD then it's pointless. HDD's are getting pretty cheap now and it is more cost effective to source your own one and upgrade it. Plus a 160GB (or whatever it might be) is too small for the PlayTV twin tuner HD recorder coming out here in a few months. I have a 320GB in mine and I regularly use it up with PlayTV I got from the UK. If however a new unit is slimmer, quieter, faster, cooler etc that definitely has some real value and would be an attractive unit to wait for.
  13. Yep, 'tis true. I have Play TV from the UK and it works perfectly but it cannot pick up SBS (though this can/will be resolved with firmware updates once it's out in Aus). It's one of those purchases that once I got it, I with I had bought it a long time ago!! PlayTV comes out here in Sept I believe, and it's a twin tuner HD recorder. I also use my PS3 as an entertainment hub, I stream everything to it from a NAS, use it for games, DVD'd, BD's, video calls to family/friends, i-net browsing... I can't remember what I did without it!
  14. Yep I'm playing it and we're about to get a 4th map (I think at 5 million kills - or something like that). I played the demo for about 30mins before buying it, great game for $20!!
  15. Thanks for all of the fantastic responses guys. I ended up getting it from JB's for $70 on the way home from work (I figured that wouldn't make a dent in the $90M I was planning on picking up tonight, turns out that didn't go my way ). Hanging out to play it looouuuddd (when the baby's awake and it's early enough not to annoy the neighbours )
  16. Wow, quick responses, thanks guys. JB's had it for $79 in a ltd edition metal box. I love the series and owning a theatre system that will do HD pic & audio justice I think I'll be going back to get it today.
  17. Hi, I have the Band of Brothers box set on DVD and my local JB's have finally got box sets on BD back in stock (they were out of stock for ages!). Has anyone 'upgraded' to the BD version, and is it worth it? I know the BD box set has some extra menu's/interaction type things, but really I just want the episodes. Obviously the picture and audio quality will be better, but is it a lot more noticeable? Cheers.
  18. Sure am I have a good aerial on my roof which I'm sure helps too.
  19. No worries!! So far so good. Haven't had as much time as I'd like to play with it but the install and set up was a breeze. Recording HD TV fine whilst watching other channels. I'm yet to try whilst playing a game or dvd, but so far so good. The EPG is really good too...
  20. Mine arrived from Game today, it only took 4 days which is really impressive. Looking forward to trying it out - fingers crossed it's also the best $120 I've spent this year too
  21. oh noooooo, I have been holding off - but now I'm picking one up from the UK, enough is enough Sony Aus!!
  22. If it helps I have a Panasonic AE700 throwing to a 90" screen at a distance of about 3.7m and it works really well. The Panasonics have good image sizes at short throw.
  23. Yep the thought has definitely crossed my mind and I have frequented eBay for a cheap one Belt out some '...master...MASTER...master of pupperts...'
  24. For me... Foxtel becuase they have the Rugby!!! But seriously, the content differs so much so it really depends on what you want to watch.
  25. I played real guitar before GH (still do), but I'm now interested in picking up a drum kit (V-Drums or similar) Yeah the songs are brilliant and I almost did exactly the same as you - I played with headphones on last night too to keep the peace (though I was busted for singing once and I didn't even realise I was!! - good songs ). My LOUD session will be on the weekend!! GH and Metallica were made for each other!!
