  1. I bought one of these boxes (proBox) for Xmas (2010) and agree with Mitchamus but the major pro is they are now $109 from PCcasegear! I certainly wouldnt recommend one for a noob but if you want to play a round with a PVR that does a lot of stuff for only $109 then they are fun! I was going to a full review but Mitchamus has covered everything... another major pro is faster copying than my old media gate... If I wanted to spalsh out more money I would get another Media Gate, my old MG 35 has lasted 3 years+ and have kept it for backup in case the Probox dies...
  2. I have found my mediagate is good for streaming MP3s and small files but if I wanna watch a TV show or movie I have to drop the file on the the mediagate's hard drive... eventually I bought a 500mb hard drive to store everything and I backup my pc to that new drive on the mediagate with windows backup etc... dave
  3. I had similar problems when I initially put my hard drive in... How did you put the files on it? Does the drive have a dip switch / pin to tell the device it is a master? Did you also try playing MP3s and JPGs?
  4. Is anyone on this forum using mediagate? One function I cant use "skip to time" button... I cannot enter any numbers (time) but when I press enter I go back to the beginning 00:00:00 bah! I got it to work... how embaressment...
  5. I would try ebay or Dixons recycled records or you can buy it in december - part of the 5 disk set being released http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000K15VS...id=P7Q44952O77R
  6. scroll up thru older posts to see other prices... I got mine (42PX70A) from JB for $1980 and others have got it from elsewhere for less!
  7. ah ha! thanks I was looking for a fave button... but you just use the channel button as normal... whew... Last night I watched Death Proof and was very impressed with the blood splatering on my new Th-42px70a
  8. I have mostly watched movies from my DVD player and my Mediagate so far but when I browse the TV channels on my TH-42PX70A I love looking at all the channels but I would like to somehow edit all the channels so Ten HD is on #10 Seven HD is on # 7 and somehow skip all the other stuff I dont wanna look at... The manual seems to say you have to do this with favourites which is annoying... To browse I have to press the info button i then blue for faves??? Is there a way to edit all the TV channels so I just have the 5 main broadcasters on numbers 2, 7, 9, 10 & 28 (for Melbourne)?
  9. I have been looking at Panasonic TH42PX70A for a while now and thanks to the ATO* I finally got some money together and made the drive around various stores today to check them out... 1) Clive Peters in Scumshine = $2599 (awful salesmen) 2) Harvey Norman Knifepoint = $2299 (terrible layout) 3) Dick Smith Knifepoint = $2499 (salesman farted then others giggled like schoolboys) 4) JB Knifepoint = $2247 (haggled down to $1980 + 5year warranty $339 = $2319) SOLD! will post pics and review soon... *Australian Tax Office
  10. I just bought a MG-35 for $200 and am very happy with it... Interestingly the guest acount on my XP machine wouldnt work so I had to setup a new account login media password gate then assign rights to my share to that account and voila!
  11. I am interested in buying a TH-42PX70A within 2 weeks and am keen to know latest prices people have paid... Also is anyone interested in joining / organising group buy within western suburbs melbourne? I am leaning towards JB / Dick Smith etc near Knifepoint but could be persuaded to buy else where...
