Thanks for letting me know though, maybe i jsut need to keep trying and then it will finially work or something. I might try taking the ps3 downstairs to the pioneer plasma and then setting it on hdmi from there then bringing it back upstairs to see if i works that way once hdmi as been set on the ps3

thats right unfortunately i am using composite, cables came int he box of the ps3 and as i did not have a hdmi cable handy i decided to use that for awhile.

Thanks for the help AndrewW, i will look in the manual when i get home, hopefully i can find something on it. If not i mayneed to buy some componet cables instead for the PS3 will this have the same issues as the HDMI cable?

Would not have a clue to whether the plasma has HDCP over HDMI. Anyway of finding out?

I can't seem to locate the Automactic selection, I can get to the stage of selecting HDMI, I select this and then click on confirm for it to switch to hdmi, then switch my source to hdmi on my plasma and nothing.

how do you go abouts performing a automatic method? please let me know this is getting me stressed thanks

Hello Everyone, Just need some help, I recently got a PS3 earlier this year and have been running it via the AV cables they supplied connected to my Samsung PS42Q7HDX and the quality isn't all that great, so i decided that i would buy a HDMI cable so i could run it in HD. Received my HDMI cable today all excited to see how the PS3 would look with HDMI, got home from work, plugged it all in switched the plasma to HDMI source and then turned on the PS3. The plasma displays a "No Signal" message, so i decided to perform a reset on the PS3 by turning it off and then holding down on the on/off button for 5sec until it beeped, but still not signal. Then I tired the AV cables again and switched it back to AV1 on my plasma which displayed the PS3 menu without any issues and changed the display settings to HDMI, then changed my source to HDMI but still not display. Can someone help me out? Really want to run the PS3 off HDMI. Any help or suggestions would be great. Cheers David

well, i finially found the time to go exchange my plasma for another unit brand new in box, got home and unpacked the plasma, plugged it all in to find that the same issue i experienced with the other plasma was still there in the new one, so i can only assume it's a firmware issue rather than a hardware fault. anyone know of a fix? the funny thing i notice is if you go into the DTV menu and go to the sound option you will notice that there is mpeg and dolby digital and then after a few times of turning it on and off either dolby digital is the only section you have or mpeg anyone noticed this?

damn.. it is a very big hassle and i don't even have the original box anymore. i may give samsung a call to confirm if it is a return case.

well it does ease my mind a litle to know that it isn't just my set that is experiencing this issue. my software version is T_JAGU2DAUO_1001

I have 50" Pioneer and a 42" Samsung both HD with built in HD tuner and i must say the pioneer is a great unit, now i'm no expect but the quaility of the unit is fanastic picture. Picture quality is great on both unit but the Pioneer seems so much better and is backed with a 5year factory warranty so theres no need to buy extended warranty Just thought i'd give my opinion thats all

Hello All, I recenty purchased a Samsung 42" Plasma PS42Q7HD, I have noticed that when I turn on the unit to watch FTA tv the volume is very low but when I change the source to say component 1 and then switch back to the tv mode (tv/dtv on the remote) the volume is high again. Does anyone know why this occurs and how to fix it? or is there something wrong with my unit? Cheers.

damn you got a pretty good deal. just wondering if you know how much it would have cost you if you wanted to get extended warranty? i've spoken to a few places and they say the price you got it for is below there cost.

Can i ask your reasons why you would go for the lcd over the plasma? the lcd is good as it has a three year warranty over the 2years on the plasma which may save me buying extended warranty

speaking to a bloke at HN he stated plasmas only get a 2year warranty where as the LCD's get the 3years. so i'm tossing if i should get extended warranty or not. are plasmas ok for gaming?

only after a cheapish set for my room, to play games and watch dvd's and once in a blue moon FTA. so i thought the samsung to be good in value for the price.

i guess it doesn't bother me that a new one will come out shortly, as this will always occur and theres ntohing anyone can do about it. as long as i'm happy wiht the unit and can get it at a good price then i'll be over the moon.

Looks like this unit is dropping in price more and more which is a good thing for me I wasn't sure if i should go for the Samsung LCD or this plasma but the plasma appears to be cheaper than the LCD thus me inquiring about it here.

i just want to know roughly how much people purchased the unit for, i know varies quite abit from store to store and i can't make it to many stores i thought i'd get an insight from people in this forum.

did you end up getting extended warranty on the unit or did you think th 2years would be enough for you?

oh i'm not saying that it is my sole reason, i guess as a package in terms of features and cost is involved. i'm really just after a cheapish solution nothing flash just a hd unit with built in hd stb that allows me to plug my laptop in to play movies and so forth. I have personally taken a look at the unit and it looks quite good in my eyes. I have not thought about lg and what are peoples thoughts of samsung anf lg which appears to be better. samasung offer a 2year warranty on their plasma's which is a bonus also comapred to 1year given by other makers.
