  1. Thanks techo for your reply. Perhaps the problem lies with being connected to too many units? ie PVR, Pioneer DVD-R with HD and analogue tuner, hi-fi midi system, VCR and LCD TV. I've tried different order in daisy chain, restoring to factory settings, switching off at back, each time scanning the channels. The result, schedule program plays back bitty and jumpy, and when I switch off at remote, so does the recording end. The "Purpose" still displays as PLAY and No Repond. I'll give up for now and record my programs through the analogue tuner of the DVD-R (very reliable and eeeeasy to use!)
  2. Last week I purchased 9077P and I'm trying to work out how to schedule several FTA programs to record next week as I will be away. First question, do I need to leave PVR power on when recording? (sounds like a dumb question, but you would normally switch off VCR, DVD-R when recording while away) Doesn't the PVR get too hot if left on all the time? Second question, while setting up schedule, in the window where you set Event ID:, Service:, Start time etc. under Purpose: there should be the choice of PLAY or RECORD, I've got PLAY and No respond. Any replies would be appreciated as I'm flying out Saturday morning. Thanks Tony
  3. Thanks Mr Flibble, techo and jok11n for your replies. I bought it today but haven't as yet plugged it in. If it can do what I want for the price, I'm fairly certain that I'll be happy with it. Also, the salesman said that it's the latest model with the latest firmware... If I come into any trouble, I'll post about it and share my experience. Thanks again. Tony
  4. I'm about to upgrade our SD set top box with a Digicrystal 160gb Twin Tuner PVR from Strathfield for $269. Our system comprises: Legend LSD2 STB, Samsung VCR, Pioneer DVD recorder with 160mb, Technics Midi HiFi (about 12 yo) and Magnavox LCD Wide TV. Question 1: Will the PVR act like a STB allowing the DVD recorder to record programs (as well as recording on its own hard drive)? In other words, can the PVR be recording a timer program, and the DVD recorder be recording the other program being watched? Question 2: Can recordings on the PVR be transferred to DVD recorder to enable DVD recordings? The sales persons suggested that we need a SCART connection to do this, which the Pioneer DVD recorder does not have. Does anyone else have a similar setup, or has any comments about the Digicrystal PVR? Cheers Tony
  5. Thanks for all your feedback, I think a midrange remote and then later a cheap PVR is the way to go.
  6. The STB is a Standard Definition Legend LSD2 which has a basic on/off timer. The DVD-R is a Pioneer with 160gb HD. After forking out for DVD-R, I don't really want another recorder. At the same time, it would be handy to have just one remote.
  7. I was hoping a remote with timer could be a workaround to recording digital programs. I don't really want to purchase a PVR to record programs occassionally, but I do want one good remote instead of 4 (not counting VCR!) that could be programmed to record future programs.
  8. Our set top box (SD Legend) stays on one channel, so we can't go away for a few weeks and program different channels in digital (although we could still program through the analogue tuner of the DVD-R). I hope I've explained better now.
  9. We're looking for a remote with multiple macros and a complete timer. Our system comprises: LCD TV, SD STB, DVD recorder with HD, Stereo amp & VCR. I'm hoping to find a remote where I can set up multiple program timer recordings. At the moment, we can only timer record one TV program, so I'm hoping a fully functioned remote could do the trick. Also looking at cheapest price. Thanks
  10. Thanks to BBB, Marc, Ray and Peter, you've been really helpful... Looks like we'll need to get a PVR to timer record in digital, we've become very accustomed to the hard drive on the DVDR which essentially is an analogue PVR... Can anyone recommend a low priced PVR?
  11. Yeah, we're starting to have our doubts about the capabilities of the Legend LSD2 (we paid $89 yesterday at Kmart) which we've connected to a Pioneer DVD recorder with 160gb hard drive (with inbuilt tuner) that's about a year old. We also purchased Magnavox 66cm LCD ($899) and are really happy with it and the digital signal from the STB, only problem is the recording of programs (can only record channel selected on STB).
  12. We're very new to this, here goes.... how do we configure STB with DVD recorder/hard drive such that programmed recordings to hard drive are digital? (ie. timer recordings set up on DVD recorder receive only the analogue signal). The only way we can record a digital broadcast is if the STB is playing that channel. We recently purchased the Legend LSD2 and are able to return it if more suitable STB is available. Any comments would be appreciated.
