Any Tape Prison Break Finale Ch7 Wed 12th July?
hottoddy replied to hottoddy's topic in TV - Free to Air & Streaming
Regional QLD! Im in Newcastle. The 6th largest city in Australia! Larger than some capital cities and the only place u can get ADSL2+ is from 2 exchanges in the inner city. And then from a micro ISP. Not even Telstra, Optus, Primus, IINet etc! What hope has regional QLD got. By the way good idea on the domain name. Any suggestions from anyone on cheap hosting and forwarding! Good and bad experiences please. -

Any Tape Prison Break Finale Ch7 Wed 12th July?

Hi, Thanks all for the input. Im male (thats out of the way) I have installed utorrent and now do not require this episode. Thankyou for all the prompt and generous offers. A good community spirit. I think Channel BT can only only be 4 emergencys such as this 4 me as my download limit is now exceeded and i have been throttled back. My ISP (optusnet) does not include uploads but ADSL2+ is not yet available in my area (Newcastle NSW) and i am loathe to change ISP's as i run a business and cant change email addresses. Thnaks once again. -

Ahhhhhhhhhhh Dont spoil it! As u know i havent seen it yet! LOL By the way what is the average size of a program like this on Channel BT? -
ajm, this is the best quote i have seen on the HTPC topic and have used it many times in discussions with colleagues on the subject. (I have always referenced u, dont worry!) I work in medical imaging, an extremely tech heavy occupation and all the guys are talking about HTPC and reading/dreaming about it in computer mags. I mention ur quote and all of a sudden they all stop and think rather than just considering the sexiness/cache of it all. As a reader wrote in The Sydney Morning Herald Icon computer section after he bought a HTPC, something along the lines of "we are so used to just sitting down and switching on the tv like a light switch its difficult to tell the kids and the wife they cant watch tv because we have to reboot it" Its a project. If u have the time good luck if not beware the "bleeding edge"

How many people do you still hear talk about Sydney channels and local channels! Digital is a long way off for most people. -

Thanks, I have looked into ChannelBT although i am stuck with 2 probs. One is my computer is quite old and very slow and the other is my broadband account is limited to 1GB per month. I dont think this is enough for BT? -
I am in desperate need of the Prison Break finale on Ch7 on Wed 12th July. I have been watching this show without fail. Unfortunatley my little prodigy (8 weeks old) was taken to hospital by ambulance so i had other issues on my mind. The poor little sprog ended up staying in hospital for a week but is all better now. I am sick of my work colleagues telling my great this finale was but none of them taped it! I will send blank dvd and postage. Please help me!

Hi, I have read threads on this STB and have noted probs with channel skipping etc occuring on Nov 05 firmwares. I am running Jan 26 '06 firmware but have had intermittent probs with the channel changing by itself. Usually when i am recording to my Sony HDD/DVDR after i have gone to bed! Although it also occurs when general viewing. Does anyone know what is the latest firmware on this model and what are the known bugs and fixes? Thanks

As above. I used this thread for my 26" Bravia S series and am happy although still tweaking. Its an obession!

Just an update. Thankyou to all those who helped. It is all set up now and am just getting into the technical side of finding the best settings for the LCD TV and working out the recording and editing from the STB on the HDD. Just a nugget of info u guys may be interested in. I initially plugged the HDD/DVD into the TV using Component (as wisely suggested by Venus) and had no image whatsoever. It was only after going back to the store that I was told to plug it in via composite and then chose "Component On" in a sub menu anf then change the cables back to Component! Voila! Image! Quite a trap! No mention of this in the manual. Once again thankyou all.

Whay are wall mounts so expensive?
hottoddy replied to hottoddy's topic in Televisions, Projectors & Screens
I understand that as an OEM Sony has higher costs and responsibilties than a company who just does generic and rips off the sony design BUT its a sheet of metal! Even if it is spray painted/powder coated it does not change the fact that it is a flat rectangular metal plate with holes in it and screwws for mounting. And it is 1/3rd the cost of the LCD. If you take your automotive comparison then somethig similar, say a roof rack or tow bar, no/low tech items, bits of metal bolted onto your much more high tech unit then for a Commodore/Falcon base model these roof racks or tow-bars would be about $10,000. How many people would accept that! -

Then what makes "brand name" brackets that much better? -
Hi, I have just purchased a Sony Bravia 26" (KLVS26A10) and am shocked at the price of wall brackets. For this unit it is $499 which is about 32% (1/3rd!) of the price of the screen! My father is a fitter and turner, father-in-law is a boiler maker and 2 brothers in law boilermakers/fitters. I have shown them the units and they cant beleive the price! What is going on!

Thanks lemonato, yes it does have two audio outputs so you are correct. Although a good point for other users re the splitter. I think it is the URL hotlink in platinum's signature that gives it away! Re the HDMI, i was aware at the time of purchase that the TV had no HDMI input but it was alll i could afford and have set in place a master plan to move this TV to the bedroom in appprox 1yr and get a larger screen with HDMI for the main room. I think i will go with component and leave the PC for the laptop if needed. The wife isnt aware of the plan yet! Thanks heaps

Hi, I purchased this unit 5 days ago and have so far had no issues. I know its not an answer to your problem but evry bit helps. Maybe return it to the store.

Good Morning, I do know the front from back but maybe was of the misguided understanding that people who are that into HT etc that they are keen to share "some" knowledge. Isnt that the whole point of a community? And before u think that i am just lazy or "leaching" info, this is not my first post and i am just after a little guidance. Thanks

Hi, I have just purchased a Sony Bravia S Series 26" LCD and are wondering what settings people are using and how they are finding them. I have the Bravia connected to a Sony HD STB (DST-HD500) via component. I encourage Bravia owners to read Drizts thread http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...l=bravia++setup for the V series but am wondering if there is much difference for the S series (eg no HDMI etc) Let us know what your settings are!
