  1. There is a difference...but don't even bother proving it...They are all formats that are never used in the studios anyway, because of compression...Go back to good ol' cd's and lp's. Spend your money wisely and upgrade a component. lol
  2. bass box pro is a good one...well it's definately a ported box because the qts is under 0.5.. 25hz seems a little low...35-45 Hz word be a lot better especially with a fs of 53 Hz. another problem is that you will be using a passive radiator, so it sort of defeats the purpose of a ported box.
  3. Why don't you build a passive sub box with an 8ohm JBL2226...Eficiency is high, run no probs off your amp(if possible to bridge), and doesn't have to much excursion. Plus you'll have a similar bass to the one in in cinemas. An 8ohm is a better choice as it is an easier load for your amplifier.
  4. Sorry to be blunt, but if you can't hear the differences your system is not reveiling enough...
  5. Like guru said, it's not about your hearing ability, it's about learning what to listen for
  6. Hi rab...you should actually measure at 90db if possible. I'm interested to see how they measure at your seating position, because a vast majority of speakers will give you up to 20k 30 cm from the speaker. Alot of peaople measure from 1metre away which is pointless as you usually don't sit that close. I don't know how you measured, but keep a distance, extend the rta responce to 3 secs and then you can get a half decent reading. If your too close to the speaker, you will be picking up the speakers own inacuracies. Also move the mike up, you will notice an increase in highs...So it's a game of averages.
  7. Get yourself a half decent sound card with digital out and run it into a dac. The standard on board card are full of distortion with no imaging and horrible bass. You just need to run a clean signal in the dac, and it definately will make a big difference. It's worth the buy.
  8. Go Cowan Media Jet Audio. I have been using it for years and it sounds great. Also, spend 30-50 bucks and get ypurself a good sound card.
