  1. hey mate have you tried this way Go to the Media blade, videos, click your X button (change video source) and point to your disc. Should work. Also try using a usb flash drive to store & watch avi movies. I normally stream stuff as I am so over burning disks ps you might have that one percent (normally only stuff that was encoded years ago)
  2. After the update your xbox 360 will play 99% of the stuff you chuck at it if it (no subtitle support though) The wireless adaptor can be had new on ebay for $90 bucks, But IMO you are much better of just running a Ethernet cable as I found the wireless to be a bit flaky, dropping out when half way through a movie sucks also the wireless adaptor is barely efficient when running HD content. All in all though I find the xbox 360 awesome for watching stuff from my PC even photos and music are fine, no more transferring files or burning disks is great. ps If after the update it tells you unsupported format just try again and it will play after a few goes.
  3. Have you checked out the latest Myer catalog it has a few ideas https://www.myerone.com.au/myerone/content/...ic_2/index.html I am in the same boat as you ($1500 max including warranty) and will most properly go the samsung 42" C91 or Toshiba 42 inch LCD as they both come with 2 year warranty. However I am in Perth so the prices can sometimes be a bit harder to haggle PS not sure if allowed links to catalog sorry if not guys
  4. View sonic also has a 37" for $1000 was considering buying it the other week they seem to have a good warranty and pixel policy. But will properly just wait a week or so until till more funds arrive, cheap LCD's seem abit scary
  5. Hey mate I have just purchased a Harman kardon hk970 2 channel amp from ebay The price was $560 plus $50 post to WA thats about $250 off RRP I think. The unit is refurbished and then tested/repackaged but comes with 6 months of warranty so I am hoping that faults if any show up in that time frame. I think many people steer clear of refub gear and consider it to be a risky purchase, especially on ebay but the above ebay seller has awesome feedback and is a power seller For the price I am happy giving it a go if the amp breaks(could always be a little thing that cheap to fix ) after the 6 months well $600 ain't the end of the world. I also had trouble finding Harman Kardon gear in Perth. Will post more info when the unit arrives if you want ? If all goes well I may even purchase a AVR340 for the beginnings of a HT. PS I am hopeless at haggling so wouldnt for the life of me be able to talk a salesman down, on a price at a proper hi fi store like alot of the pros on this forum.
  6. Thanks mate just what i needed to know
  7. Didn't Want to start a new thread for a simple but hopefully not stupid question I looked in two channel section and found lots of thread but just cant make sense of it so hopefully one or you guys can help After reading, reading, and saving I have decided to start my HT/Hi-FI journey with a basic two channel system my budget was $1500. I am aware this budget doesn't compare nor would i try , with most of the members from the DTV (which is why i guess it makes this place such wealth of RELIABLE info) but its what i got so wanted to spend wisely hence all the research here. Hope it paid of I am aware that this is very tight but I went ahead and did what i thought would be the best option for my current circumstance So Have purchased and Assembled a pair of LSK F6 Mk $1200 Got them for $1000 and purchased a Harman Kardon Stereo Amplifier HK970 for $600 (Refurb with warranty) There was a small mix up to do with stock availability and because of this minor inconvenience Scott from LSK gave me pre assemble and routed cabinets So the speakers after a few coat of paint look awesome After all that (Sorry little bit excited) the question is, down the track is it possible to add a woofer using this amp cant find much info on how to physically connect a sub woofer if at all possible. Also can it be integrated into a 5.1 HT setup, or is it Soley for music Thanks Dan
  8. I had a look at one of these today, originally intending to check prices on the 42" panasonic and samsung, here in WA things seem a bit more than eastern states. I have never considered a "no name brand" but when i saw the price tag of $1999 I had to look twice. It was playing foxtel through component and to my eyes looked very good the colours weren't as good or deep as the 42" samsung but the finish is similar and it is sooooo big, the pana was looking a bit washed out but i didn't fiddle with any setting and it was just playing FTA. I have 80 Cm CRT beast at the moment cabinets starting to buckle under the weight ! Any way spoke to the DSE guy and he is positive its a LG panel so the question is, is this a good thing? Warranty was a bit steep at $300 for 3 years but that was with no haggling I would not buy this "TRIO" without a warranty SO 50inch no brand or play it safe with 42" pana 2 grand is about what i can afford hence why I am looking at 42's 50" is sooo bigg damm I am kind of a bit to excited over a stupid tele. hehe
  9. Yeah I agree cause a guy on this forum sold a harmon kardon AVR 630 receiver on ebay yesterday, for $670 I would have bid but thought it would end at way over my budget. Just gives more time to save i guess

  11. Thanks for the replies everyone. I am most likely going to take the risk and buy a refurb Harmon Kardon off Ebay It seems to be from reputable power seller, if there is such a thing. I have seen an entry level Denon 1706 within budget at a local hi fi shop so will do a bit more research before my money burns a hole in my pocket. Or keep saving. Dan
  12. Not to hijack your thread but you guy's know of any Harmon Kardon stockist in Perth? Thanks Dan
  13. I was wanting advice on buying a refurbished AVR. My understanding of refurbished is that it has been damaged or DOA then sent back and fixed ? me To be more specific I am no audiophile, and have set myself a very tight budget for hopefully the beginnings of a basic home theater which is how i got here. Iam thinking ( i want ) a Harmon Karon avr 235 like this and a set OF LSK F5 Mk would this be a good way to spend $1600 I know that in this price bracket i should probably just go to the Good guys and get a HTIB or spend the whole lot on just a AVR, but $1600 is what i want to spend to get a bit of music to my ears http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Harman-Kardon-AVR23...1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/shop/prod...p;ProcessType=1 My main concern is that the AVR only has a 6 month warranty are AVR's pretty solid things, do they require regular warranty repairs or if it works it should work forever. Sorry about the long thread thought it would be better to get it all out in one swoop rather then clutter this informative forum with my noobness. Thanks Dan
