Overview

The Aurender N10 is a reference-class caching music server and streamer, offering 4TB or 8TB HDD storage options and a 240GB SSD for caching storage. It features a proprietary Aurender CPU with 4GB of memory, supporting high-resolution music streaming from popular services and internet radio. It offers multiple output options, including USB, AES/EBU, Coaxial, BNC, and Optical, with USB supporting sampling rates up to 32bit/384kHz and DSD128, and SPDIF supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD64.

The server supports various audio formats such as DSD(DSF, DFF), WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, M4A, and APE. It employs an Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) for long-term jitter reduction and precise DSD-to-PCM conversion by FPGA. The FPGA-based all-digital phase-locked loop system minimizes jitter to negligible levels. The N10 also features dual 3.7” AMOLED displays with a colored VU meter simulation, a machined aluminum chassis available in black or silver, and a gigabit Ethernet LAN port for network connectivity. The Aurender Conductor app allows for full-function control and remote technical support.

Ultra High-Quality SPDIF and AES/EBU Digital Audio Outputs

The N10’s AES/EBU, BNC, Coaxial, and Optical outputs offer a superior musical presentation compared to asynchronous USB connections. Unlike USB, where the DAC pulls packets of information from the player, the N10’s SPDIF and AES/EBU outputs push signals to the DAC at intervals defined by the onboard OCXO clock, ensuring a precise and high-quality audio experience.

Oven-Controlled Crystal Oscillator (OCXO) for Long-Term Jitter Reduction

OCXOs are among the most accurate and stable clocks available, far surpassing ordinary crystal oscillators commonly found in computers. Temperature changes can cause crystal oscillations to fluctuate, leading to jitter in the digital audio signal. OCXO clocks use a high-grade crystal oscillator enclosed in a compartment maintained at a constant temperature, preventing jitter from temperature fluctuations and ensuring long-term stability and accuracy.

Precision DSD-to-PCM Conversion by FPGA

Many DACs only support DSD decoding on their USB inputs, not on SPDIF or AES/EBU. The Aurender N10 addresses this with high-quality DSD-to-PCM conversion by FPGA, ensuring compatibility and superior sound quality.

FPGA-Based All Digital Phase-Locked Loop System

The N10 incorporates an all-digital phase-locked loop system (ADPLL) with FPGA and OCXO clocks to precisely time digital audio data transmissions, minimizing jitter to below negligible levels.

Storage and Playback

The N10 features internal hard drives with either 4TB or 8TB of storage, and a 240GB solid-state drive is used to cache music for playback. This reduces wear and tear on the hard drive by keeping it asleep when cached music is played from the SSD, eliminating noise from spinning disks, moving heads, and motors.

Dedicated USB Audio Class 2.0 Output with Ultra-Low Noise Power Circuitry

The dedicated USB Audio Class 2.0 output delivers an exceptionally transparent audio signal free of noise, shielded from outside electronic interference.

USB HDD and NAS Support

While the best performance is achieved with music stored on the Aurender’s internal storage, the platform also seamlessly integrates content stored on a NAS or external USB hard drive.

Aurender Conductor App

The Aurender Conductor App transforms an iPad into a versatile user interface for Aurender music servers. It provides easy access to all settings and functions through the Settings menu, with extensive features for browsing and playing high-resolution music collections.
