You won't find a better, more ‘now’ 5.x stereo / surround sound system than this one. It’s a super high quality Danish DALI system, and this kit’s entirely WIRELESS!
The system comprises:
· 2 x Oberon 7C mains – each with wireless + 100W D-class amp
· 2 x Oberon 1C surrounds – with wireless + 100W D-class amp
· 1 x Vocal Centre speaker with wireless + 100W D-class amp
· 1 x Dali Equi Soundhub controller + remote
· Soundhub HDMI / Surround sound plugin module
· Soundhub BlueOS streaming plugin module
· 1 x Subwoofer wireless broadcast module
Plug these together and in about an hour you will have an incredibly capable system capable of streaming stereo (or multichannel sound), and full surround sound via HDHI ARC. Better still.... the ENTIRE system is wirelsss, as ALL the speakers get their signal automatically via DALI’s WiFi 2.4 Ghz comms, without needing speaker cables! Just plug each speaker into a power point, and you’re in business.
Add your own sub, locate it anywhere in the room, and feed it’s RCA input using the DALI wireless subwoofer receiver module. Even add a second sub ‘daisy-chained’ off the first via an RCA cable.
I got this system as NOS a few months ago and was going to install it at my folk’s place, but in the end they decided to just go with a simple sound bar – so this is now surplus. The gear is ALL brand new, and has the balance of Dali’s 3 year warranty. I did open one or two of the boxes to ensure all elements had been delivered, and to take photos.
The central Soundhub (when fitted with 2 two plugin units) takes:
· 2 x Optical (TosLink)
· Coax (S/PDIF)
· RCA (Analogue Stereo)
· 3.5 mm Mini Jack
· Bluetooth 4.2 (AAC, Apt-X, Apt-X HD)
· FULL BlueOS streaming, with help from the BlueOS phone app
· LAN connection + WiFi
· HDMI with ARC/eARC compatible
· Supports up to 7.1 channels of DOLBY and DTS surround sound
The spec for the main Oberon 7C wireless speakers are:
· Frequency Range (+/-3 dB) [Hz] 31 - 26,000
· Maximum SPL [dB] 108
· Crossover Frequency [Hz] 2,450
· Crossover Principle Full active 24 Bit DSP
· High frequency driver, Quantity 1 x 29 mm
· High frequency driver, Diaphragm type Soft Textile Dome
· Low frequency driver, Quantity 2 X 7"
· Low frequency driver, Diaphragm type Wood Fibre Cone
· Enclosure type Bass Reflex
· Bass Reflex Tuning Frequency [Hz] 40.0
· Amplifier Power Output [RMS watt] 2 x 50 W
· Amplifier Type Class-D
· Connection Input Universal mains 100-240 VAC
· Wireless Input(s) Full 24 Bit / 96 kHz (not compressed)
The Surrounds and Centre have similar specs, and ALL have the same 2 x 50W built-in amps.

And to show you this really is an excellent value package, here is a pair of DALI 6C speaker plus JUST the Soundhub (minus the 2 plugin units). It is DEMO gear, reduced from $9,300 to ‘just’ $4,500! The 6C are one above the 7C in the Dali hierarchy. However, my package contains an extra THREE powered speakers (maybe $1K EACH), TWO modules (worth around $1K each) AND the wireless Sub module (around another $750) AND my gear is new, never used and has over 2.5 years of full warranty.

### Sound Quality
Users and reviewers praise DALI systems for immersive, dynamic, and detailed surround sound with seamless integration across channels. Highlights include full, warm audio; precise effects movement (e.g., bullets, phaser fire, or action scenes swirling realistically); expressive dynamics; clean dialogue; and strong bass impact without overpowering details. Music and movies deliver scale, emotion (e.g., "shivers" from Live Aid scenes), and three-dimensional staging, often outperforming competitors in transparency and fun. One critique notes occasional "lumpy" bass resonances in wireless setups.
### Build Quality
High marks for stylish, solid construction with gorgeous cabinets, low-loss surrounds, and versatile designs (e.g., wall-mountable rears). Centre channels are sometimes noted as comically large but perform excellently. Subwoofers provide musical lows, though some prefer upgrades for deeper weight.
### Reliability
Mixed feedback, primarily on the Sound Hub wireless component: Most report flawless synchronization, no latency, and responsive daily use in full 5.1 setups. However, one Crutchfield user called it "junk" due to constant connection losses with Oberon On-wall C speakers, despite no interference and poor manual support. Long-term ownership (10+ years) of DALI speakers is positive for sustained performance.
### Strengths
- Immersive home cinema with realistic effects, power, and channel separation.
- Wireless convenience (via Sound Hub/Equi protocol) without sync issues in most cases.
- Excellent value, dynamics, and music/movie versatility under £5000.
- Transparent, warm sound that's "fun" and scalable.
### Weaknesses
- Wireless reliability issues (dropouts) in some setups.
- Subtle detail occasionally less refined than rivals (e.g., not as three-dimensional).
- Setup complexity, missing features like night mode or decoding display on hub.
- Large centre speaker and premium pricing.
### Overall Reputation
DALI 5.1 systems (Oberon/Epicon series with Sound Hub) earn strong acclaim for cinematic immersion, build, and performance, with 5/5 sound and build scores from What Hi-Fi? and Home Cinema Choice. They're seen as excellent value for dynamics and wireless ease, though wireless hiccups temper enthusiasm for some. Reputation holds from 2019 reviews (updated 2024), positioning them as "clever performers" for movies/music.
Similar used DALI 5.1 passive speaker systems (e.g., Zensor or Stile series, without active wireless components) list in the AUD 1,000–3,500 range on Australian classifieds, depending on model and condition:
- Basic Zensor 5.1 setups (e.g., Zensor 7/5/1/Center + sub): Equivalent to ~AUD 3,550 if priced at listed separate component values ($390–$1,250 each), though full system bundles sell lower (firm prices not always specified).
- High-end Stile 5.1 (high gloss, RRP $3,310 new): Listed at firm ~AUD 3,000+ (inferred from RRP and "excellent used condition" descriptions).
Prices vary significantly by condition: Used "good/excellent" systems fetch 40–70% of new RRP, while "like new" or premium models hold closer to 80–90%; new Oberon 5 5.1 packages retailed ~£1,699 (~AUD 3,300) historically, but no current new AUD pricing for Soundhub Active 5.x.
Key factors affecting value:
- Condition: Minor marks reduce price by 10–20%; perfect drivers/tweeters command premiums.
- Model specifics: Soundhub Active 5.x adds wireless tech (e.g., Sound Hub ~AUD 429 component), potentially valuing it 20–50% above passive equivalents; rarity inflates used prices.
- Accessories/inclusions: Bundles with cables/stands increase value; missing remotes/amps lower it.
- Location/demand: Australian listings (QLD/VIC) show firm pricing with test options; scarcity of active DALI systems suggests higher end of range for used (~AUD 2,500–4,500 estimated conservatively based on similars + wireless premium).
