Yamaha Releases True X Wireless Surround Sound System

Said to be many years in the making, Yamaha has released its True X Wireless Surround Sound System promising a flexible, easy-to-use and authentic Dolby Atmos true surround experience.
Yamaha says True X is "the next phase in Yamaha's class-leading sound bar technology" and that it "offers the most comprehensive yet simple entertainment experience Yamaha has yet developed".
The True X system encompasses the SR-X50A sound bar and wireless subwoofer, complemented with dual WS-X1A True X wireless speakers offering true discrete surround left and surround right channels for a 4.1.2 channel configuration. The True X rear speakers can also be transformed into individual Bluetooth speakers with a simple press of the 'Solo Mode' button, allowing you to utilise the rear speakers as an on-the-go audio solution in a different location.

The True X bars feature height speakers and compatibility with Dolby Atmos to deliver sounds from above. The True X bar can also be used with various online music streaming services, including Spotify and Amazon Music, and is Amazon Alexa enabled for voice commands. It is also equipped with AirPlay 2 functionality, Yamaha's Clear Voice function and four different sound modes, specifically for enhancing the listening experience of different content, including movies, games, and TV shows.

The SR-X50A True X bar also comes with a wireless 100-watt subwoofer that can be set facing frontways or sideways, depending on the user's preference. It also combines with the soundbar to recreate the spaciousness of the original content, letting you feel as if you were stepping into the very scene unfolding on the screen.

The WS-X1A True X surround speakers are compact enough to carry anywhere easily. They are said to "provide superb sound quality for maximum enjoyment of movies and music and delivers excellent sound, regardless of if it is being used as a surround speaker or a portable speaker". It also features a variety of functions that are excellent for daily listening, including Clear Voice, which makes it easier to hear spoken voices and dialogue in your favourite content. The stylish design allows the speaker to blend in with any interior while achieving an IP67 dust and water resistance rating. Boasting a battery life of up to 12 hours, they are charged from a USB-C connection or for more permanent placement using the dedicated CC-T1A charging terminal (sold separately).

The soundbar can be conveniently connected to the TV with a single optical or HDMI cable. The setup of the surround speakers is straightforward and flexible since no cables are necessary, and the dedicated Sound Bar Controller app guides the user through the process.

The Yamaha True X Bar 50A and Sub 100A is priced at £799 RRP, while the True X Bar 40A costs £549. The True X Speaker X1A will sell for £149 each. All are available in September 2023.
