WiiM's compact (146x146x193mm [HxWxD]) WiiM Sound smart speaker has gone official and promises to bring the company's renowned streaming and amplification know-how to an all-in-one, touch-controlled design.

We first met the WiiM Sound speaker at the High End Show in Munich earlier this year, and also got additional details ahead of this official release. The company now confirms the WiiM Sound delivers hi-res audio up to 24-bit/192 kHz and 100 W peak power.
The new WiiM smart speaker packs a 4-inch (100 mm) long-throw woofer and dual 1-inch (25 mm) tweeters optimised via AI RoomFit tech that automatically calibrates its claimed 35 Hz-20 kHz frequency response to suit the environment, which should result in "a rich, balanced sound wherever you place the speaker," so says the brand.

If you have a larger space or want true stereo sound, you can pair two WiiM Sound units or assign additional units as surround or centre channels in a WiiM home-cinema setup. When used with a WiiM device featuring an HDMI ARC input, such as the WiiM Amp Ultra, WiiM Sound can act as rear surround speakers in a Dolby 5.1 system, making it fully home cinema ready.

The WiiM Sound's 1.8-inch touch display puts play/pause, source, and quick EQ right at your fingertips, as well as showing album art, track info, and clock faces when idle.

Further control options include the WiiM Home App, the included WiiM Voice Remote 2 Lite, or voice control via Alexa or Google Assistant (on compatible devices).

WiiM Sound connects in multiple ways via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3 (SBC, AAC, LDAC), and wired Ethernet, as well as offering a 3.5mm Aux input.

It is also compatible with Google Cast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Alexa Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready (pending). It can be grouped with WiiM, Google Cast and Alexa multi-room systems for playback throughout the home – so, no ecosystem lock-in.
With smart presets, music alarms, and multi-room grouping, WiiM Sound easily integrates into daily routines. It pairs with WiiM Amp, Pro, Mini, Ultra, and Sub Pro to create a complete home audio system.
The WiiM Sound is available soon, priced at A$499 | £299 | US$299 (SRP), in black or white finishes.
