Wharfedale was founded in 1932 and to celebrate its history it has established the Heritage Series – recreations of famous models from its past, entirely re-engineered using contemporary techniques and materials. The latest loudspeaker to join this collection is the Linton.
The new Linton joins the recently launched Denton 85 (£549.95 per pair) in Wharfedale's Heritage collection.

The original Linton debuted in 1965, and the line continued in various iterations until the end of the 70s. The substantial cabinet held three drive units including a good-sized bass unit.
The new Linton continues the original's DNA. Not only is the new kid a three-way standmount model, but it also shares similar dimensions to the original through its wood-veneered, vintage-look cabinet.

The Linton makes use of its wide baffle by incorporating a 200mm Kevlar-coned woofer that's mounted on a rigid, die-cast chassis. Above the woofer sits a 135mm midrange driver, also sporting a woven Kevlar cone and housed within its own internal enclosure. Finally, a 25mm fabric-dome tweeter with a high-flux ferrite magnet handles high frequencies.

Wharfedale says the new Linton retains the sound quality of the original but upgrades the performance in every department.
The new generation Linton also offers specially created optional speaker stands.

The rigid metal frame ensures critical damping of unwanted vibrations, whereas the wood-veneered panels at the top and bottom complement the speakers. The design even provides space to store vinyl records within the stand's structure.
Price and availability
The new Wharfedale Linton is available from the end of May at an RRP of £999.95 per pair, in a choice of walnut or mahogany veneer.
The Linton's dedicated stands are available separately at £279.95 per pair.
