TEAC Expands Reference 500 Series with NT-507T Network Transport

TEAC has expanded its Reference 500 Series with the new NT-507T, a network streaming transport designed specifically for USB digital output and targeting listeners who already own a high-quality DAC.

The Japanese manufacturer claims that the NT-507T lifts music streaming enjoyment to new heights through the combination of its latest Network Engine G4 and a large linear power supply, both designed from the ground up for sonic purity. The unit sits neatly alongside the company’s UD-507 DAC/preamp. Still, it remains compatible with any USB-equipped DAC, serving as a dedicated bridge between networked music sources and high-end digital converters.

TEAC’s focus here is clear. Eliminate noise, enhance timing, and deliver the cleanest possible digital signal. By forgoing an onboard DAC or touchscreen, the NT-507T avoids internal interference, keeping every circuit dedicated to precision data handling. A toroidal transformer with four independent windings supplies dedicated power to the network, USB, Wi-Fi, and LED sections, while discrete DC regulators replace noisy switching supplies. The result, TEAC says, is a dynamic and fluid sound reminiscent of vinyl playback, but with the clarity of high-resolution digital.

Connectivity is equally uncompromising. The NT-507T features dual network interfaces — standard RJ45 Ethernet and an SFP optical input for galvanic isolation — as well as Wi-Fi 6 for high-quality wireless performance. USB output supports PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD 22.5 MHz, ensuring compatibility with today’s highest-resolution formats. Two additional USB ports accommodate flash drives, HDDs, or SSDs, allowing the NT-507T to double as a simple music server without the need for a separate NAS.

User experience has also been refined for modern streaming habits. The NT-507T is OpenHome-compliant and integrates with apps such as TEAC’s own HR Streamer. A USB Volume Function allows users to control compatible DACs or preamps directly from the app, while a dedicated Roon Ready mode caters to the most discerning audiophiles. Support for Qobuz, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect and TuneIn covers the major streaming platforms.

Physically, the NT-507T maintains TEAC’s hallmark solidity. Its semi-floating 2.8 mm aluminium top panel helps suppress vibration, while the company’s proprietary isolation feet are said to refine tonal clarity and preserve natural timbre. The unit will be available in both silver and black finishes, allowing it to match other Reference Series components.

Internationally, the NT-507T is priced at US$2,499, placing it well above mainstream streamers such as the Eversolo DMP-A6WiiM Utra or Bluesound Node Icon — all of which include onboard DACs and touchscreen interfaces. But that’s not really the point. TEAC’s new transport is aimed at the purist who values system separation, clean architecture, and the satisfaction of a well-engineered signal path over convenience and interfaces.

Much to the frustration of many enthusiasts, TEAC’s hi-fi components remain unavailable through official Australian channels, leaving those eager to experience the NT-507T’s purist approach to source units from overseas.
