The Beta5 is aimed at stereo, multichannel and mixed-use systems, combining a relatively small cabinet with engineering borrowed from Starke’s larger designs. It also arrives alongside a deeper collaboration with Eversolo, reflecting a broader shift toward speaker-and-streamer ecosystems that promise easier setup without giving up meaningful performance.

The Beta5 is a two-way, rear-ported loudspeaker built around a 29mm large-voice-coil tweeter and a 5.25-inch dry-carbon sandwich woofer using Starke Sound’s proprietary HEMF (High Efficiency Magnetic Field) motor system. Neodymium magnets are used in the driver assemblies to support stable output and lower distortion at higher playback levels.
Starke rates the Beta5 at a 108dB maximum sound pressure level, which is getting up there for a compact bookshelf speaker using a single 5.25-inch woofer. In practical terms, that suggests it should be able to handle film soundtracks, gaming and dynamic music in small to medium-sized rooms without sounding compressed or strained.

Sensitivity is specified at 86dB (2.83V/1m) with a 4-ohm nominal impedance, meaning the Beta5 is designed to be driven by a properly capable amplifier rather than ultra-low-power electronics. This is where Starke’s partnership with Eversolo starts to make sense. As we experienced first-hand in our review, the Eversolo Play streaming amplifier delivers 110 watts per channel into 4 ohms, giving it the current delivery and headroom needed to keep speakers like the Beta5 under control while still fitting neatly into a compact, modern system.

That electrical pairing is reinforced in software. Custom EQ profiles for the Beta5 and the larger Beta7 are being made available on the Eversolo Play platform, allowing the speakers to be automatically tuned when used together. These profiles are designed specifically around Starke’s driver and cabinet behaviour, with Eversolo handling impedance optimisation, power management and placement compensation in stereo, surround and gaming setups.
As Desmond Fretz, Sales Director at Starke Sound, puts it:
We’re excited to launch the Beta5 and to expand our collaboration with Eversolo. With custom EQ profiles for both the Beta5 and Beta7 available on the Eversolo Play, music lovers can easily unlock stunning clarity, powerful dynamics, and a truly effortless listening experience — instantly.
Physically, the Beta5 is compact enough to suit shelves, media units and desktop systems, yet it is tuned and specified to scale into proper two-channel and surround configurations. It is offered in black, white and grey, reflecting its positioning as a modern, living-space-friendly speaker rather than something confined to a traditional hi-fi rack.

Starke has also expanded the Beta5 family to include a broader range of products centred on the same driver technology. The Beta5C centre channel uses dual 5.25-inch woofers for greater dialogue clarity and headroom, while the Beta5W on-wall model trades some low-end extension for a slimmer profile that is easier to integrate into living rooms. All three share the same tweeter and woofer platform, allowing them to blend tonally in a surround system, particularly when paired with Eversolo’s custom tuning.

The Starke Sound Beta5 is priced at US$499 per pair, making it the most affordable way into the company’s loudspeaker lineup. Bundle packages with the Eversolo Play are also being offered, priced at US$1,098 for the standard edition and US$1,198 for the CD-equipped version, with regional pricing still to be confirmed.
