Sennheiser's Ambeo soundbar has already impressed us here at StereoNET but today the company has announced a new firmware update that hands the serious Senn soundbar access to 360 Reality Audio tracks via Google Chromecast.

The Ambeo Soundbar started off by sporting 3D movie sound skills thanks to its Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and MPEG-H support. Now, music gets the same attention. Sony's object-based '360 Spatial Sound' technology aims to place you, the listener, centrally in an immersive 360-degree music experience.

Live concert streaming service nugs.net is the first to claim compatibility, however, we are told that "additional services and content expected to follow". We are taking that to mean TIDAL, Amazon Music HD and Deezer are in the queue as they all offer a selection of tracks in the surround format.

Maximilian Voigt, Product Manager at Sennheiser, told StereoNET:
Our customers can now stream music and enjoy exceptional spatial audio by simply downloading the latest firmware update without the need to purchase any additional equipment.

Why not remind yourself why we were so impressed by Sennheiser's Ambeo soundbar in the first place and check out our review?
