Scansonic Brings in a New Trio of M-Series Speakers

Three Scansonic M-Series speakers replaced by M-10 standmount, M-20 and M-40 floorstanders

Scansonic HD has announced the M-10 stand-mount and M-20 and M-40 floorstanders as additions to its M-Series range of loudspeakers. The new trio is described as a "must audition for budget-conscious music lovers who covet the superb sound of sister brands Raidho and Gamut, which share the same designer", by the manufacturer.

Scansosic's three new models are more advanced versions of, and replace, the previous M-5, M-6 and M-9 in the series.

The M-10, which is a compact two-way mini-monitor, and the M-20 and M-40, both 2.5-way floorstanders, all feature the same sealed ribbon tweeter with Kapton/aluminium sandwich membrane found in the Scansonic's higher-priced MB-Series. The tweeter joins new, improved bass and midrange drivers that feature an advanced 4-inch honeycomb-enforced glass-fibre cone design, combined with a powerful magnet system.

The M-10 has a quoted 70 Hz–40 kHz frequency range and 85 dB sensitivity, whereas the M-20 floorstander takes the range to 50 Hz–40 KHz and 86.5dB sensitivity. The largest of the new gang boasts a 45 Hz–40 kHz frequency range and 88 dB sensitivity.

The ribbon tweeter promises an extremely fast, vivid and wide frequency response, allowing for an exceptionally open and detailed sound at the top end. We are told that this now married with an even more agile, open and three-dimensional midrange, along with a cleaner, faster and more deeply visceral bass with a more significant punch and attack, according to Scansonic.

All of Scansonic's M-Series models are available in satin black or satin white and are supplied with a removable, protective front-grill and adjustable feet.

The Scansonic HD M-series is available now, priced at £649 for the M-10 2-way standmount, £1499 for the M-20 2.5-way floorstander and £1999 for the M-40 2.5-way floorstander.
