Revealed at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra, the move underlines Samsung’s wider ecosystem strategy. The Buds4 line is positioned not as a standalone accessory, but as an extension of its AI-driven mobile platform ahead of general availability on 11 March in select markets.

The headline hardware change in the Buds4 Pro is a newly designed, wider woofer. Samsung claims the driver increases effective vibration area by nearly 20 per cent over the previous generation while maintaining the same compact footprint. The two-way configuration combining woofer and tweeter, supports playback up to 24-bit/96kHz, pushing toward studio-resolution audio within the limits of Bluetooth transmission.
Revised driver placement is also said to improve Active Noise Cancellation by reducing wind interference and external feedback. Enhanced Adaptive ANC and EQ analyse ear shape and fit in real time, adjusting frequency response and noise reduction on the fly. The objective is straightforward: preserve tonal balance while stripping away background noise — whether on a train or in a crowded café.

Ikhyun Cho, Corporate VP of Mobile Enhancement R&D Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, said the focus was on balancing performance with daily usability:
Samsung understands that a truly premium audio experience combines technical sound quality with how that sound feels throughout a user’s day. With the Galaxy Buds4 series, our design philosophy was uncompromising, providing all-day comfort without sacrificing audio performance, because these are what consumers value most. We engineered our most powerful hi-fi audio and our most secure, ergonomic fit to enhance one another, delivering the best listening experience we’ve ever created.

Call performance has also been upgraded. "Super Clear Call" uses wideband audio and machine-learning-based noise reduction to improve vocal clarity, with Samsung claiming effectively twice the bandwidth of conventional Bluetooth call transmission.
Design changes form a significant part of the refresh. The Buds4 Pro adopts a canal-fit architecture aimed at maximum isolation and functionality, while the standard Galaxy Buds4 moves to an open-fit design prioritising comfort and ease of wear. Samsung describes the new “blade” aesthetic as computationally designed, refined through large-scale ear data modelling and thousands of simulations.

The result is a metal-accented stabilised blade with tactile pinch controls, paired with a transparent clamshell charging case that showcases the updated form. White and Black are available across the range, with Pink Gold offered exclusively on the Buds4 Pro.
Beyond acoustics, the Buds4 series deepens Samsung’s AI and ecosystem integration. Galaxy users can trigger assistants, including Bixby, Google Gemini and Perplexity, via voice commands, while the Pro model adds head gesture controls for call management. Opening the case near a compatible Galaxy device enables near-instant pairing, with further adjustments available through the Quick Panel or Galaxy Wearable interface.

The launch also arrives a year after Samsung patents suggested it was exploring Ultra-Wideband (UWB) audio transmission as a potential route to higher-resolution wireless playback — something StereoNET reported on in 2025. The Buds4 series continues to rely on Bluetooth, but support for 24-bit/96kHz playback indicates Samsung is still pushing the upper limits of current wireless standards, even if UWB-based audio has yet to reach commercial reality.

Samsung’s claims of “ultimate sound” are characteristically bold, but the strategic direction is clear. Larger drivers, more advanced adaptive processing and tighter smartphone integration point to a deliberate consolidation of its position at the premium end of the true wireless market.
Commercially, this is no minor refresh. The Galaxy Buds line remains one of Samsung’s strongest-performing wearable categories, competing directly with Apple’s AirPods Pro. As smartphone replacement cycles lengthen, ecosystem devices such as earbuds have become increasingly critical to brand retention and revenue stability. The Buds4 series, therefore, lands as a central pillar of Samsung’s 2026 flagship push.

Pricing for Galaxy Buds4 Pro pre-orders starts at US$249 | £219 | A$399, while Galaxy Buds4 pre-orders begin at US$179 | £159 | A$299 ahead of the March 11 on-sale date.
