The new ADI-2 DAC is made by German manufacturer RME Audio, so build quality and circuit technology is bound to be impeccable.

RME has ensured its new DAC has a huge range of conversion options that it says makes the ADI-2 perfect for studio professionals and audiophiles.

Jitter, that bugbear of many digital devices has been addressed and sent packing via the use of the latest 32-bit/768kHz-reference converter RME SteadyClock technology.

Headphone enthusiasts will like the ADI-2’s two high-performance headphone outputs including a dedicated in-ear connection.

The ADI2 builds on the proven qualities of the well-regarded ADI-2 Pro AD/DA reference converter.

Input choices are many and include a coaxial SPDIF connection, an optical SPDIF/ADAT connection and a USB2 port.

After digital to analogue conversion, the analogue signals are ready and waiting at the stereo XLR and stereo RCA outputs, or at the TRS standard and mini-jack outputs of the headphone amp.

A headphone amp moreover, that is said to be sophisticated and powerful and tailor-made for using high-impedance studio and hi-fi headphones through an Extreme Power output, and high-quality in-ear models.

Headphone amps can have plenty of noise, but this is taken care of by the ADI-2 DAC’s signal to noise ratio of up to 120 dBA and very low distortion.

The ADI-2 features high-end internal signal processing options thanks to a powerful DSP processor. It also offers a 5-band parametric EQ with easy to use bass/treble adjustment, crossfeed playback, and a novel loudness control for the analogue stereo outputs.

The ADI-2 offers a quality two-channel USB audio interface with sample rates up to 192kHz and playback up to 768kHz, both PCM and DSD signals.

The ADI-2 DAC is $1999 RRP and is available now.
