Pulse Elevate Raises the Game as PlayStation’s First Wireless Desktop Speakers

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the Pulse Elevate, its first-ever wireless speakers designed specifically for desktop gaming.

Revealed during a recent State of Play showcase, the new speakers expand Sony’s PlayStation audio ecosystem beyond headsets and earbuds, offering players a headset-free way to experience immersive game audio.

Building on the success of the Pulse Elite wireless headset and Pulse Explore earbuds, the Pulse Elevate incorporates the same core technologies—planar magnetic drivers and Sony’s proprietary PlayStation Link connectivity—into a portable desktop form factor.

According to Edwin Foo, Vice President of Product Development at SIE:

Pulse Elevate builds upon the immersive next-level gaming audio experience we introduced to players… combining powerful technologies like planar magnetic drivers and PlayStation Link into new form factors for players to experience with their favourite games.

Each speaker houses studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that promise lifelike detail across the full frequency range, supported by integrated woofers to deliver bass weight that smaller desktop speakers often lack. On PlayStation 5, Tempest 3D AudioTech takes things further by positioning in-game sound cues with pinpoint accuracy, giving players an extra edge in supported titles.

Unlike typical PC speakers, Pulse Elevate also doubles as a communications hub. The right speaker includes a built-in microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection, designed to strip out unwanted background sounds for clearer chat without requiring a headset. It’s a subtle but significant shift for players who prefer uncluttered setups but still want to coordinate with teammates online.

Connectivity is centred on Sony’s PlayStation Link standard, which provides ultra-low latency and lossless transmission to PS5, PC, Mac, and the PlayStation Portal handheld. The system also supports Bluetooth, meaning users can mix in audio from a second device—such as streaming music or voice chat—while staying synced to their game. A PlayStation Link USB-C adapter will be bundled in the box.

While clearly aimed at desktop setups, portability is another selling point. The Pulse Elevate includes a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with charging docks, allowing players to undock the speakers and pair them with a PlayStation Portal or smartphone for on-the-go gaming. Sony has also built in flexibility: the speakers can be set vertically or horizontally to suit desk layouts, and users will be able to tweak EQ, sidetone, mic, and volume settings directly through PS5 and PC menus.

Set to launch in 2026 in Midnight Black or White, Pulse Elevate marks Sony’s first move into dedicated wireless desktop speakers—an interesting expansion of the PlayStation hardware lineup. Pricing and exact availability will be announced closer to release, but industry chatter suggests they could land in the US$300–400 range, positioning them firmly in the premium desktop gaming category.
