Ophidian Voodoo Flagship Floorstander Announced

Ophidian's Voodoo has announced as its new flagship floorstander.
The Voodoo from Ophidian is a 1.3m tall three-way floorstanding loudspeaker that, of course, features the British company's unique Aeroflex bass loading system.

The new flagship sits where the impressive P3 Evo once did and is equipped with dual 265mm drivers, these feature thick black anodised aluminium cones, dual voice coils and triple shorting rings to reduce distortion to an absolute minimum, says Ophidian.

We are informed that the Voodoo loudspeakers can cleanly displace over an inch of movement while producing solid bass extension down to 26hz.
The 180mm mid-bass drivers also feature black anodised aluminium cones with solid aluminium phase plugs. Furthermore, this is set within its own damped sub-enclosure. The manufacturer says that by isolating the mid-bass driver, the external walls of the cabinet no longer colour the sound.

A 22mm fabric soft dome tweeter with a Sonomex dome is employed for the high frequencies. This features a large magnet for excellent transient response. In addition, the large roll surround allows high power handling and a smooth response extending beyond 20khz.
The crossover exclusively uses high-quality parts from Mundorf, while the binding posts are from industry leaders WBT.

The Voodoo sits on a plinth that is CNC machined from a solid block of aluminium and weighs 11kg alone.
The Ophidian Voodoo will sell for £14,000 inc. VAT in a Walnut finish. Custom high quality polyester paint finishes will be available for an extra charge.
