Musical Fidelity M6x 250.7 Multichannel Amp Released

Musical Fidelity's M6x 250.7 is the first of a new range of multichannel amplifiers for the brand and is available now.
Musical Fidelity's M6x 250.7 multichannel power amplifier is pitched as a high-performance class A/B power amplifier design and is the first of three models the audio electronics specialist will release.
Sitting in the middle of the planned new range, this seven-channel variant offers a 250W class A/B amplifier stage per channel. Musical Fidelity states that the amp's design promises a highly natural sound as it preserves all transients and micro information. Additionally, the “super silent audiophile power transformer” distributes clean power, resulting in a high dynamic range and a detailed sound stage. THD + N is listed as being 0.003% @ 100W power output, while the frequency range is quoted as 20Hz – 20kHz for 0.5dB.
Finally, thanks to a sophisticated heat sink design, the M6x 250.7 eschews the need for a fan to keep the amplifier cool, with MF boasting that, despite its considerable power, you will never hear any fan noise coming from the amp.
Musical Fidelity also seems proud of the M6x 250.7's high-quality metalwork and clean look. The front panel in either black or silver finish is a custom-made fine line aluminium extrusion.
You can connect your pre-amplifier/AV processor with either RCA or fully balanced XLR cables with one gold-plated RCA and one balanced XLR input offered per channel. MF recommends using the balanced connection whenever possible as “this kind of signal transmission leads to increased dynamics, less noise and improved signal-to-noise ratios”.
The company adds that if you need the same signal on multiple inputs, e.g., bi-amping, you can use the gold-plated RCA through output and distribute the signal to the next input. The gold-plated isolated speaker output terminals accept 4 mm banana plugs, spade connectors or naked wire. The trigger in-/output allows you to turn the device on/off via other components.
The Musical Fidelity M6x 250.7 is available now in Black finish, priced at £3,099 in the UK (around $3,400 USD).

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
