Monitor Audio Studio 89 Enters Its White Album Era

Monitor Audio has unveiled a fresh new look for its Studio 89 loudspeakers, adding a striking High-Gloss White finish to its compact, high-performance design. First launched in 2024 in High-Gloss Black, the Studio 89 reimagines the iconic Studio Series of the 1980s—a line known for bringing studio-grade sound into the home.

Now available in white, the Studio 89 channels the same sonic pedigree with a bold new aesthetic that plays to modern design sensibilities while retaining nods to its past. The contrast between the sleek white cabinet and Monitor Audio’s signature gold-anodised drivers makes it just as much a visual statement as an acoustic one.

While the Studio 89 may be compact in stature, it’s built to deliver big sound. At the heart of the design is a point-source MTM (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) array configuration, featuring Monitor Audio’s latest MPD III high-frequency transducer flanked by dual 4¼-inch RDT III bass-mid drivers. This arrangement ensures a broad, immersive soundstage with lifelike detail and tonal accuracy. Each bass-mid driver incorporates a tri-layer construction—combining a C-CAM (Ceramic-Coated Aluminium Magnesium) outer skin, Nomex honeycomb core, and carbon fibre base—for stiffness without added mass. Paired with a bespoke third-order crossover using premium components, the result is high-fidelity audio with minimal distortion and maximum musicality.

Monitor Audio’s Transparent Design Philosophy underpins every element of the Studio 89. This approach ensures a careful balance between design and technology, where form and function complement rather than compete. The cabinet is robust and acoustically inert, with an 18mm front baffle and 15mm side walls reinforced by carefully positioned internal bracing. Airflow is managed via HiVe II slot ports at the top and bottom, reducing turbulence and enabling a clean, tight low-frequency response.

The speaker’s compact dimensions make it an ideal fit for modern interiors, while its acoustic transparency allows it to disappear into the space sonically—even as it stands out visually. The new High-Gloss White finish elevates this duality further, offering a more expressive, versatile option alongside the original black version.

To match the updated aesthetic, the optional Studio 89 Stand is also now available in High-Gloss White. Designed for rigidity and acoustic optimisation, the stand features a laser-cut steel top plate, extruded aluminium pole, and die-cast aluminium base. Adjustable feet are included for all flooring types, with both chrome-plated spikes and domed rubber feet supplied to ensure secure placement in any setting.

Studio 89 in High-Gloss White will be available from July 2025, alongside the matching stand. Regional pricing is as follows:
