Lumagen Releases More Affordable Video Processor

Lumagen, often considered a pioneer and benchmark brand in video processing for home cinema, has introduced its best-value video processor yet, the Radiance Pro 4140.

Video Processors are installed in line with your AV Processor or Receiver and Projector (or TV) and allow for greater controls and complete calibration of the video signal, along with many other features.

The Radiance Pro 4140 includes a single 18G HDMI input and 9G HDMI output within a compact case design, maintaining the same video processing quality as other models in the Radiance Pro series. The single HDMI configuration is designed to meet the needs of entry-level home cinema systems.

The StereoNET Applause Award-winning Radiance Pro series, including the 4140, utilises Lumagen's proprietary video processing algorithms. These algorithms are designed to improve video quality on front projectors, flat panel displays, and LED video walls.

In our review, we concluded:

Lumagen's claim of producing studio-grade reference images is no stretch of the imagination. Indeed, it produced some of the finest images I've seen in my time as a calibrator, not to mention the best looking HDR images I've witnessed from any projector regardless of price point. So whether you have an ambitious home theatre build or are planning one, the Lumagen Radiance Pro simply has to be on your short-list.

All Radiance Pro models share the same video feature set, including HDR Dynamic Tone Mapping (DTM), scaling for in-motion video, instant-auto-aspect ratio detection, and various customisation options. The processors support 4K60 inputs and outputs, are compatible with HDCP 2.3, HDR10, and HLG, and also work with Dolby LLDV sources. The Radiance Pro 5244 and 5348 models include HDMI de-jitter circuitry, which aims to reduce HDMI clock jitter and improve audio quality at the processor's input.

David Lowton, General Manager of Cogworks, told StereoNET:

We are really excited about the launch of this new Lumagen video processor, the new 4140 will open standalone video processors with all their benefits to many more customers, stock will start shipping early October.

The Radiance Pro video processors are custom-designed, commercial-grade products manufactured in the United States. Lumagen offers free firmware updates and customer support to provide long-term value and video quality for home cinema setups.

Jim Peterson, Lumagen President, added:

Because the Radiance Pro provides the industry's best processing for in-motion video content, it has become more than a home cinema product. It has found its way into studio post-production suites for use in video quality control for consumer releases, and for use in maintaining proper lip-sync using its Genlock feature. Image science is our passion, and our products allow viewers to see what the director intended.

The Radiance Pro 4140 is available now and sells for $5,495 USD.
