Linn Introduces Bedrok Plinth Upgrade for Sondek LP12

Linn has unveiled its first-ever plinth performance upgrade for the Sondek LP12, marking a significant innovation in its turntable legacy.

First unveiled in the limited-edition 50th anniversary Sondek LP12-50, the Bedrok™ plinth is now available as a standalone upgrade, offering LP12 owners yet another way to refine and enhance their turntable’s performance. Linn has long championed the upgradeability of the LP12, providing a steady stream of enhancements over the years—from tonearms and sub-chassis refinements to motor control upgrades. Now, with Bedrok™, they may have delivered the ultimate tweak—a plinth that fundamentally enhances the foundation of the LP12’s performance.

Crafted from orthogonal layers of beech (layers stacked in alternating perpendicular directions), Bedrok™ undergoes an intensive process of extreme pressure and heat to form a uniquely dense, solid structure. The result is a material that Linn claims has negligible resonance. It has been designed to provide an exceptionally stable and isolated housing for the Sondek LP12 mechanism.

Given that the LP12 plinth is the foundation for the entire turntable, its influence on overall performance cannot be overstated. With more than double the density of a standard LP12 wooden plinth, Bedrok™ delivers a uniform solidity that enhances the function of every mounted component. Linn claims this holistic improvement results in greater pace, tighter bass, improved clarity, and an even more immersive listening experience.

Bedrok™ is available in a distinctive natural beech finish, accentuated and protected by an oil coat highlighting its layered construction. Due to the complex manufacturing process and limited availability of materials, we understand this flagship Klimax-level upgrade will be produced in strictly limited quantities. For those seeking the pinnacle of LP12 performance, Linn emphasises Bedrok™ represents a substantial step forward in isolation, resonance control, and overall musicality.

The upgrade is available through Linn’s specialist dealers in the UK now, while Australia will see availability in April. The Bedrok™ (plinth only) is priced at £8,750/A$19,995 or Sondek LP12 Bedrok™ (complete turntable mechanics + plinth) £10,140/A$22,995
